DRUMS

Postby lilwdlnddude on Mon Dec 11, 2006 2:42 pm

Hey I am sick and tired of my crappy drumset thats mad out of particle board and the hardware sucks and it sounds so crappy. even when I tune it the drums never get a good sound out of them. I plan on going to college for music and if so I need a better drumset such as a DW, Tama, Pearl, or somethin high quality. Does anybody have a drumset they are getting rid of or know of anywhere where I can get a quality set for an affordible price? Thanks!

i don't play drums so I don't have a drum set to give you. Sory. But have you tried online at EBAY? I've seen some nice sets there, Actually thinking of getting one for my sister(drummer wannabe)

Good Luck with your studies, I'm actually going to University for Guitar myself.

Well, if you want to go new, its going to be about 400-500 for somethign worth getting, the 300$ pulse one is complete shit, don't buy it!

this one from musiciansfriend seems liek a good buy

Checkt os ee if they have any blemished drumsets in stock

Same thing, jsut not belmsihed, its about 20-30$ mroe expensive

Moslty everything out there is fine, jsut go for a well known company. Comapnies i'd buy from: Ludwig, Yamaha, Pearl, DW, Gretsch, Mapex

someone actually donated a pretty nice one to our percussion program. We've been getting some pretty good use out of it, I believe the lady was doing a garage sale and no one bought it, you might check places like that(yard sales, pawnshops etc), they often don't know what they have or just want to get rid of it

what type of set was it? Most sets will sound great if you jsut put good heads onto them and know how to tune them properly.

I'm not sure, don't really know all that much about drum sets (odd considering I'm a percussionist), but it was a huge imporvement from our other set

thanks... i dont really like ludwig though sorry. I really like there snare drums though. Ludwig is good at stuff like concert percussion and marching band. Yamahas alright. Im really likin DW, but there pacific drums are something I dont like. They sound good but there hardware is crappy. Ive heard gretsh and mapex are good but ive never had to work with one or play on one. I just need a used one I can find somewhere thats not to beat up. thanks for all the help.

i'd say buy the DW set if you dont' find anything used below 250 or so. Its new, and even DW's cehap stuff is good. A friend of mine bought a bottom of the line DW snare drum, its better than my Tama snare which costs about twice as much.
