Final Fantasy 1-7 are excellent.

Final Fantasy 8 killed my inner child

Final Fantasy 9 was good.

Final Fantasy X and X-2 sucked.

Final Fantasy XII is shaping up to be another great entry.

FF1 - 7 Real good

FF8 - Ruined the great sequence

FF9 - massive improvement

FFX - Really good - the most emotional ending i think (maybe just better graphics?)

FFX2 - not as good as FFX but moderate

Havent played anymore from that!!!

Emotional? If by 'emotional' you mean 'nauseating' then I agree.
Oh great, here's a hero. He's been dead for a long time. He's not real. He's just some kind of specter thing. I'dve been sadder if he wasn't so damn whiny and annoying. I was happy when it turned out that way.

FFX2 - not as good as FFX but moderate

Uck, 'Let's spend 30 hours looking for somebody who didn't really exist in the first place!' 'OKAY!'

Havent played anymore from that!!!

So far, FF12 is shaping up to be really good. There isn't any sappy love story in this one. That makes me a happy panda.

Gameshark helps, so does leveling up for periods of 3-5 hours before you get there.

FF8 is amazing. I love that game. Squall is SOOO badass, I don't understand how people hate it. What was wrong with it? (serious question, I really wanna know).

FF9, personally, was shit. Too childish, the characters were FAR too young

FFX was damn good, FFX-2 was okay, but it tied in well with FFX at the end. It was a pretty good ending I must admit.

FFXII is fucking awesome, I bought it opening day, and it is simply fantastic. I definately recommend going out and buying it now.

My favorite was FF 6

FF 8 wasn't bad, but it's expectations were too high

10 had great graphics and storyline, but a bit too easy, still loved it.

10-2 was OK, but it kind-of anoyed me at some points

and 12 was the worse of all, I hate the battle systome, I hope, if they make a new one, they go back to the origional battle systom.

Thats my statement.

I have never played any of the Final Fantasy games... was I born too soon? (1981) Don't even really know what the game is about, what am I missing?

First off, forcing you to play that retarded card game to get summons was a bad idea. Secondly, if Squall said "..." one more damn time I was going to reach through the screen and throttle him. Oh, and the story was terrible. It hinged far too much on the love story and it just made me wanna puke.

FF9, personally, was shit. Too childish, the characters were FAR too young

Obviously, you've never played FFIII, where all of the main characters are young kids aged 13-17. Also, it was the return of Espers (called Aeons here) and the Crystal. It was charming!

FFX was damn good, FFX-2 was okay, but it tied in well with FFX at the end. It was a pretty good ending I must admit.

FFX made me fall asleep at the controller. I was willing to go along with it, but when I reached the Calm Lands, something in my brain told me that it was time to stop. I didn't play FFX-2, and I don't think I ever will. Call it, professional disinterest.

FFXII is fucking awesome, I bought it opening day, and it is simply fantastic. I definately recommend going out and buying it now.

I totally agree with you here, it's a fucking awesome game. And the battle system is a welcome breath of fresh air from "Take two steps, random encounter, take another three steps, random encounter." I liked the old battle system too (though I still prefer Chrono Trigger's system), but it's nice to see Square move past it.

And Serbia, no, you weren't born too soon. It's just one of those niche things that you get into young and you keep staying with. I suggest you pick up Final Fantasy Origins (which is FF1 and FF2) then getting FF3 for the DS (if you don't have/want a DS you can grab a translated ROM for an NES emulator). From there you can get FF4-6 with Final Fantasy Chronicles and Final Fantasy Anthology. Grab Final Fantasy Tactics too, that's a fun game. The rest are numbered accordingly. And I believe that you can skip FFX and not feel too badly about it.

Don't, under any circumstances, play Dirge of Cerberus. It's fun for about an hour, then it devolves into some of the worst story and worst pacing I've ever seen in a game. If you want a mindless shooter that is fun, play Gungrave or Gungrave Overdose. Steer clear of FF7: DoC.

Ive only played FF7 8 and 9. 7 was pretty good, altho i still have to finish it. Ive beat 8. I liked it alot. I actually liked the card game, haha, I would spend hours trying to get all the best stuff. 9 was also good in my opinion. Even though the characters were "childish", i still liked the story and i sorta liked the childish cartoonish twist to it.

Now are we only talking playstation final fantasies here? ive beaten final fantasy crystal chronicles. i thought that game was fun, although there were some points where going through every level a billion times to get artifacts got a little aggravating.

I spit on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. A cheap ploy by Nintendo in order to push GBA and GBA link cable sales.

The best Final Fantasy games were the first seven. And I enjoyed Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, even if it was simplistic and childish.

FF III was by far the best of the entire series (I'm referring to the one with the opera). Also, Final Fantasy Tactics was a brilliant game.

Doesn't anyone else here play FFXI?

I guess not too many people have time enough for an MMORPG AND Conquer Club.

Ahh, the leisurely life of a graduate student...

I considered getting FFXI, except I don't want to drop 60 bucks on the game and expansion packs, then pay $15 a month, and an extra $8 per character if I want to have more than one.

I'll just stick with CoH and EVE-Online for $30.

$12.95/mo, I believe + $0.25/extra character.

The game itself was a gift from my brother for Christmas some years ago, though it's $29.99 on amazon.com presently.

It just depends on how much you use it and how much enjoyment you get out of it, as with any MMORPG.

FF9 is the best in my opinion. I didn't even bother to care if the characters were young. Kiko the youngest (7 or 8 years old) could summon a Pheonix and it wasn't like she talked like a baby. Her age fit with the story line.
The storyline is what made this game amazing. Each character had their own story of redemption or discovery.
Plus the extras of the game:The Tetra card game, Quina's frog hunting game.

In FF8 I didnt like how you could only change a characters weapons and how easy it was to get magic to increase stats.

FF7 was ok, but didn't deserve a sequal or a movie ( though the movie was awsome)

I am playing FF 12 now. As it's going, I might have a new favorite. I recommend it to any RPG fan.
