Are most terrorists mean evil bastards???? and why?

Because this seems to have become a side thread inside the guns thread I thought I would move it here.

First of all I would like to say I hate terrorists, and I do not really think there is much we can do to them besides kill them because most will never change their ways if left alive.

I will use the example of the sunni's in iraq. under saddam they were pretty much in charge. for the average sunni who was not involved in politics life was pretty good, they loved their country. they did not interact with shia's much because they lived in different area's mostly and just didn't interact.

the US moves in and deposes saddam. they lose their power over things with the shia majority starting to take over. electrical, water, schools, all the things that worked in sunni areas under saddam, now do not work. they hear horror stories of what was happening under saddam from courts and soldiers and propaganda leaflets.

but they saw none of this under saddam, life was good for them. next thing you know some pakistani or iranian comes to them and says "get your country back" they saw no attrocities commited by saddam, they saw none of the things which he did wrong. they were part of the supported minority. to them, we are the aggresors, who deposed their rightly elected president.

you and I know these things to be false. all elections were rigged. saddam did many evil things. but they do not tknow. they know they lived in happiness and prosperity and the us led invasion destroyed that for them. to them they are freedom fighters.

I beleive that the iranians and pakistanis and others who are instigating the fighting and trying to stir up trouble are the real evil bastards. for the most part. the only thing that separates us from the terrorists is point of view.

to end, unfortunately, once their viewpoint is taken and held, there seems nothing we can do but fight them, as we will never change their minds.

we want freedom, prosperity and safety for ourselves and our families.
they want freedom prosperity and safety for themselves and their families.

we just disagree on the best way to get there.

you bring up a great point. instead of fightin in Iraq, in my opinion, we should be worrying about Iran and countries with lots of terrorists, bombs, and support for terrorists. while there are those who oppose US in Iraq, some Iraqis support us cuz we saved them from Saddam

There is a reason they are called terrorists. Otherwise they just be some weird religious cult that no one cared about.

Reality check. There is a huge difference between a cult and terrorism. Most cults don't go around killing innocent people. WATCH TOWER comes to mind (thanks 2dimes) The problem with muslim terrorists is that they have been brainwashed into thinking "dieing for 'the cause' " will net them favor with Allah and obtain 72 virgins on the other side. (By the way can anyone point me to the verse in the Koran that mentions the 72 virgins?)

I have lived all my life in London, and I have (up till recently) lived with the terrorist threat of being blown up my the IRA anytime or anywhere.

Not every terrorist wears sandals with semtex strapped to themselves.

I think you are missing one very large pointe here. Listen to Akma denijad (or however you spell it) This is not a matter of life liberty and the persuit of happiness for the zealots. They have stated very firmly in all that they have said that their goal is the utter destruction of all that is not under the sway of Fundamentalist Islam. They HATE Democracy, capitalism, christianity, and all other religions for that matter. Granted the leadership is basically fascist and simply using Islam as a tool too that end however when used to govern a very simplistic and uneducated mass, that is used to being told what to do and dieing for not doing what they are told, it makes things much muddier.

The goal is the assimilation or death of all including those of the Islamic faith that do not agree with them!

IMHO... I call that evil.
