PRAGUE, Czech Republic — Leading astronomers declared Thursday that Pluto is no longer a planet under historic new guidelines that downsize the solar system from nine planets to eight.

Rather than saying goodbye Pluto, say hello to Charon, Ceres and Xena. The solar system now has 12 planets not 9 (or 8).

Mercury through Neptune are planets. Pluto, Ceres, Charon, and "Xena" are now called Plutons, which is bad because a pluton is a geological term for a common type of rock formation.

Yeah qeee was a real fat bastard; all those toe-wrestling matches with me really shed the pounds off though.

i don't care if it's not technically a planet anymore
at this point in time i still consider it to be one of the nine

this completely screws over all of the acronyms for the nine planets.

eg- My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas

i've been racking my brain for a new one since i heard the news.

thanks! i prefer having 9 planets anyway, and there's a dwarf planet called, like, XG 9800 or something of the sort. Try comin up for an acronym with that as a Planet!

The thing that interested me about this is that the guys who decided this are all heavyweight academic professors and whatnot. Of course, now, all the textbooks, for all the schools, all over the world, will have to be rewritten.....

Hmmmm......wonder who will do the rewriting? Why the academics of course. These guys just basically guaranteed tripling their income for the next several years.

I can see them all at the Astromers Convention now. Running out of money to spend on booze and whores..... Hmmmmm....What we need is a new source of income.....

Can you make the sun revolve around the Earth again?

PostPosted: Sat Aug 26, 2006 4:50 pm

No I can not, the Earth hasn't have enough gravity to do so.

As Astronomer you can't give something more gravity.

But I as CEO of JF then I can, when do you want it to happen?
