Second class postage stamp is 23p (42 cents) but you need more than one for anything other than a basic small letter.

Okay, well, I don't know all the prices of those things, but, I'll give it a go:
Cigarette average in PA: I'd say $4.50 - $5.00 (In NY city, $9).
12 months car insurance (is that the same as car tax?) That can range from say... $700ish to well over $3000, depending on the car and driver record.
Average home prices.... well, in our area of PA... I'd say $400,000ish.... on Long Island where I came from, probably $450,000 - 500,000.
That is just my best estimation of things, I didn't look anything up.

My fully comprehensive insurance on a 06 Vauxhall Monaro was more than £4,000 ($7,200), but thats a lot more than most people pay, I've only been driving a year and its a pretty powerful car.

However, I can go to the hospital for free anytime I like and whine about my high-blood pressure and bleeding ulcers from worrying about being poor..
