I have an ADHD/ADD (more of the first then the second) mix and I was wondering how many people were similar.

Bump... come on now I know at least 100 people on this site have some type or mix of it

I dont have ADD. I for one think that in a lot of cases all the kid needs is some authority. Not tryin to dis you utafar. I just have some friends who claim that they are. But in my opinoin they pay attention when they want to.

I personally don't believe any of these things exist. Its what used to be called being a boy. Funny how these things weren't noticed until recently, like in the 70's and 80's and before they were non-existent. I just think the pharmaceutical companies are making big bucks off of naive parents.

I agree with Jay. Parents juat dont want to admit they cant dicsipline their kid, so they make up a disease

pft most of the time its some kindergarden teacher diagnosing a kid with add cuz the kid is to hyper or dosnt wanna pay attention, they did it to me, and i only had slight hearing loss, so a lot of the cases i was sitting in the back and i just didint hear the teacher...

also ive seen adhd... the kid had a twin brother who was normal.. you look at the two and they just acted compleatly different until the kid took his meds... then he calmed and started to act like a regular kid... and utafar... umm what we may act like on here could be something compleatly diff from how we act in real life...

like Jay could be a reasonible person when talking about god and the possiblity that god may not exist or there might be other religions that are more real then his... but that might just be a figmint of my imagination

i guess i have it. lose interest or maybe i have this thing about close to it.

i do it while having conversations. something can be going on & then i just shut off.

i also am an expert at having a conversation about something and, as a second topic comes to my head it goes straight to the second one. not completing the first then, at somepoint i get back to the first topic.

i like to call it multi-tasking but, it is problematic..

i know i have PTSD & obsessive compulsive disorder with a high anxiety level.

i too take meds for that. no my OCD is no where near Monk's.

as far as lack of discipline for kids that have ADD or ADHD, i have been around kids that do have it and it is really really hard. i know the difference between a brat or spoiled, undisciplined kid & a kid that has the disease.

the kids are just way too out of control and really are dificult to handle.

Well of coarse they do. Just as taking Viagra would help me get aroused..... but I don't NEED it. So you take a drug that "calms you down".... give me a break. Thats what the drug is INTENDED to do. And it would work on the calmest person on the planet... making them even calmer.

The sad facts are we are drugging up the country. My God they even advertise on TV now! If society went along fine before Ritalin there is no reason it shouldn't go on fine without it. Just as "spanking" children worked fine for 100's of years and now all of the freakin sudden its child abuse! Whatever..... I choose to think for myself and not be controlled by my government on ANY issue.

Grow up will ya? You don't have to use the F word to sound "grown up". Explain to me WHAT DID KIDS DO before Ritalin? Or are you trying to say ADD and the like are NEW medical conditions? Do what you think you need to do. But when your 35 years old and can't remember the alphabet do to a prolonged period of taking some drug you probably didn't need.... you'll know why.

I have ADHD, but i dont see why this is marked serious?. Lol

And what does a crack addict "act like"? And are you talking of one in withdrawl or one who is currently high? And last time I heard (No, I am no MD but I'm a good listener) they were giving Ritalin to hyper-active kids to "calm them down"..... I don't think that's what stimulants do.
