The people who panicked were corporate journalists who value style over substance.
Gee, they saw Biden as old, three years older than Trump. And they panicked.
Voters already knew Biden was old. But these normal people saw the 603 lies of Trump. Just constant irrational lies.
That is why a slight bump in the polls for voting for Biden over Trump and the surge in small donations for the Democrats.
Increasing numbers of voters don't think Biden should be running after debate with Trump — CBS News poll
For months before the first debate, the nation's voters repeatedly expressed doubts over whether President Biden had the cognitive health enough to serve.
Today, those doubts have grown even more: now at nearly three-quarters of the electorate, and now including many within his own party.
And today, after the debate with former President Trump, an increased number of voters, including many Democrats, don't think Mr. Biden should be running for president at all. Nearly half his party doesn't think he should now be the nominee.
Some 66% of registered voters have doubts about Biden’s mental fitness after the debate, a 12-point increase from May, while 74% say Biden is showing he is too old to be president (up 11 points from May), and 54% believe he is getting worse as president, a five-point increase from May, according to a Friday-Sunday Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll of 2,090 registered voters.
Trump’s six-point lead in a two-way matchup remains unchanged from May, as both Biden and Trump have lost two points since last month, according to the Harvard CAPS/Harris poll.

Did we watch the same debate?
Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) predicted his party would lose the White House this fall but added “I'm OK with that.”
“While I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump is going to win,” he wrote in an op-ed in The Bangor Daily News.

For the first time in American history, a candidate was beat so badly in a presidential general election debate, he just dropped out rather than continue.

Yes, troll-mod is totally a thing.
Former President Trump has expanded his lead over President Biden in the aftermath of last week’s debate to 6 points, up from 3 just a week prior, according to a much-anticipated New York Times/Siena College poll.
The poll showed Trump leading Biden with 49 percent to the incumbent’s 43 percent among likely voters, holding the largest lead he has had in a Times/Siena poll since 2015, when he first ran for president. Among registered voters, Trump’s lead expands to 8 points, 49 percent to 41 percent.
