Who are “you guys”?

We have a system for changing the Constitution. It’s been amended in the past and will be amended again.

It’s unlikely to get amended in the atmosphere of vitriol we have now... and atmosphere that is flamed by the two parties that benefit most from dividing and ruling the people... but please don’t paint all Americans with one brush.

I support the idea of modifying the rules and system.

I just can’t stand people who say things like “Trump really lost in 2016 because he lost the popular vote.”
Statements like that, and the feelings they confirm, are idiotic and childlike.

stop being a broken record. Where did I say that.... I've given you different arguments, and you keep on repeating the popular vote thing. I am telling you that if you're a wyoming voter, your vote counts 4 times compared to a floridian voter and that is hardly democratic. And that waiting 2 month for the new president to start his mandate is ridiculous.
Also... letting lobbies corruption as a totally normal and legal thing is really totally third worldish. In europe, the campaign budgets are capped, and it's illegal to have private entities that put money in your campaign... because it's obviously in exchange of favours once that candidate is in place.... ergo corruption. Working for a company's interest instead of the nation's interest.
It's absolutely ridiculous to have 2candidates spending billions in their campaign with lobbies and big company money.

We’re saying the same thing.

I’m open to change... I just don’t believe in retroactive change.

I also believe the way “liberals” or “democrats” talk about these things is damaging to the goals. Most liberals I know talk in a way that turns off moderates.

Oh... you forgot to mention the fact that Corporations have protections that basically make them people/citizens.

I would hope that the people who support the second amendment would be up in arms with that suggestion. And I am not talking about the caring part. If someone votes I give them the benefit of the doubt that they care. Even if they do vote by mail.

I support mail-in voting... especially during a pandemic.. but I don’t think the government should mail out unsolicited ballots.

.. and yes you should have a valid reason.
It can be as simple as you checking a box saying “for health reasons”, and then you sign it.

Which part of my proposal do you take exception with?

Why can’t they have polls that run for a week in a city or town hall... if you have whole week to go then you don’t have the ‘excuse’ that it;s not convenient, and there would be no lines. They could even setup a website to tell you estimated waiting time at your precinct.

The part in red is what I have a problem with. Like I said before if they are voting they probably care. And barriers are a way of suppressing voters.

I think you should have to care enough to request a mail in ballot... is that too much to ask?

My State sent me a letter asking me if I wanted a mail in ballot... I didn’t have to solicit anything.

I could argue there should be other barriers, like completion of High School or IQ of 100 or higher... but people will say that is racist.

I haven't seen anything about this. Is there a link?

There is no link because it didn’t happen.

I had a reasonably intelligent friend tell me yesterday that in “Wisconsin there were more votes than registered voters.”

I told her that was ridiculous, but she was repeating it like it was Gospel Truth. I googled it and saw it had been readily debunked. I then pressed her where she had heard it, and apparently her 14yo son told her and he included it on some school report. She was unable to determine where he had heard it, but it seems to be a web/twitter rumor. (I’m hoping he gets an F on that report for not verifying his sources.)

The point being... both sides are capable of spewing random fake “facts” as truth... but the Republican side seems to come up with more ridiculous truths.

The GOP has called for a recount in Wisconsin. In 2016 it took them two weeks to do a machine recount. The GOP can petition for a hand recount which would burn off a couple more weeks. The deadline to seat Electors is December 8. If Wisconsin can't seat its Electors, the House of Representatives will reelect President Trump.

Biden has no path to victory, he must concede.

Why do you think the House would re-elect Trump?
It’s controlled by the Dems.

I already answered that. Under the 12th Amendment, the House elects the President by state delegation, not individual vote.

Here's an update.

Arizona: In uncounted ballots, Trump is gaining at a rate of 56%. He needs to gain at a rate of 57% to overtake Biden. This will be close. [LINK]

Georgia: Biden has overtaken Trump by less than 2,000 votes out of 3MM+ cast, however, all remaining ballots are military ballots. Despite unscientific polls, those overseas ballots have thus far broken for Trump.

Pennsylvania: Biden has overtaken Trump, however, this will go to the Supreme Court. Prior to the election, the SCOTUS declined on a 4-4 ruling to authorize an expedited writ of certiorari to prevent the counting of unpostmarked and unsigned votes. Importantly, they did not decline the writ of certiorari, only to hear it on an expedited matter. The questionable votes have been held aside by Pennsylvania in case they need to be deducted following court action. [LINK] Meanwhile, international elections observers from the OSCE report having been denied access to ballot counting sites in Pennsylvania.

Wisconsin: Recount is confirmed; details about whether a machine or hand recount pending.

The media are working overtime to make the election appear to be a foregone conclusion. This is being done to intimidate the Supreme Court from ruling against Biden and to create the specter of Democratic violence like we've already seen in stabbings and shootings against voters. It is being done to subvert the rule of law.

Have you read the House Divided speech? Keep in mind that was long before his presidential bid... at the time he was running against Stephen Douglas not for the presidency, but just as senator for Illinois. He lost that because Douglas was able to whip up some good ol-fashioned fear mongering.

Here's a speech from Stephen Douglas (Lincoln was present for):
In other words, Mr. Lincoln asserts, as a fundamental principle of this government, that there must be uniformity in the local laws and domestic institutions of each and all the States of the Union; and he therefore invites all the non-slaveholding States to band together, organize as one body, and make war upon slavery in Kentucky, upon slavery in Virginia, upon the Carolinas, upon slavery in all of the slaveholding States in this Union, and to persevere in that war until it shall be exterminated. He then notifies the slaveholding States to stand together as a unit and make an aggressive war upon the free States of this Union with a view of establishing slavery in them all; of forcing it upon Illinois, of forcing it upon New York, upon New England, and upon every other free State, and that they shall keep up the warfare until it has been formally established in them all. In other words, Mr. Lincoln advocates boldly and clearly a war of sections, a war of the North against the South, of the free States against the slave States?a war of extermination?to be continued relentlessly until the one or the other shall be subdued, and all the States shall either become free or become slave.

A bit later Douglas gets to the meat of the argument:
But I am equally free to say that the reason assigned by Mr. Lincoln for resisting the decision of the Supreme Court in the Dred Scott case, does not in itself meet my approbation. He objects to it because that decision declared that a negro descended from African parents, who were brought here and sold as slaves, is not, and cannot be, a citizen of the United States. He says it is wrong, because it deprives the negro of the benefits of that clause of the Constitution which says that citizens of one State shall enjoy all the privileges and immunities of citizens of the several States; in other words, he thinks it wrong because it deprives the negro of the privileges, immunities and rights of citizenship, which pertain, according to that decision, only to the white man. I am free to say to you that in my opinion this government of ours is founded on the white basis. It was made by the white man, for the benefit of the white man, to be administered by white men, in such manner as they should determine. It is also true that a negro, an Indian, or any other man of inferior race to a white man, should be permitted to enjoy, and humanity requires that he should have all the rights, privileges and immunities which he is capable of exercising consistent with the safety of society. I would give him every right and every privilege which his capacity would enable him to enjoy, consistent with the good of the society in which he lived. But you may ask me, what are these rights and these privileges? My answer is, that each State must decide for itself the nature and extent of these rights. Illinois has decided for herself. We have decided that the negro shall not be a slave, and we have at the same time decided that he shall not vote, or serve on juries, or enjoy political privileges. I am content with that system of policy which we have adopted for ourselves. I deny the right of any other State to complain of our policy in that respect, or to interfere with it, or to attempt to change it. On the other hand, the State of Maine has decided that in that State a negro man may vote on an equality with the white man. The sovereign power of Maine had the right to prescribe that rule for herself. Illinois has no right to complain of Maine for conferring the right of negro suffrage, nor has Maine any right to interfere with, or complain of Illinois because she has denied negro suffrage.

Remember this is the Illinois Democratic party. You can almost picture Obama plagiarizing the same speech. This part in particular represents the opinion of Barrack Obama and especially sleepy Joe, which is why Trump won the African-American vote:
I am opposed to taking any step that recognizes the negro man or the Indian as the equal of the white man. I am opposed to giving him a voice in the administration of the government. I would extend to the negro, and the Indian, and to all dependent races every right, every privilege, and every immunity consistent with the safety and welfare of the white races; but equality they never should have, either political or social, or in any other respect whatever.

Here's the rest of the speech: http://www.civilwarcauses.org/douglas.htm

Desperate Democrats have asked the Supreme Court to cancel hearing Pennsylvania fraud case!

Democrats in Pennsylvania on Thursday asked the Supreme Court to hold off any action on a petition from Republicans in the state that argues the tribunal should strike down a three-day deadline extension for Pennsylvania mail ballots sent by Election Day to be received by elections boards.

Justice Samuel Alito, joined by Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch, in a statement last week backed the Supreme Court's refusal to take up the case, saying there was not enough time to issue a ruling before the election. But they left the door open to decide the case post-election and said it is "likely" the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling is unconstitutional.

Why not just ask who they want to vote for. If it isn't the candidate that you want then tell them they aren't smart enough to vote. Wouldn't that prove that their IQ isn't high enough to qualify to vote?

I think this is the fault of Chris Wallace of Fox news for not asking this of Biden during the debate. Especially after Trump was so unequivocal is his calls for white nationalists to 'stand down by'.

My mom voted Democrat, I will have to disown here as I can't (be seen in public) supporting a child sacrifist(I'm not sure the correct term for someone who participates in child sacrifice?)

Biden, Oct. 24: But one of the things that I think is most important is those who haven’t voted yet, first of all go to IWILLVOTE.com to make a plan exactly how you’re going to vote, where you’re going to vote, when you’re going to vote. Because it can get complicated, because the Republicans are doing everything they can to make it harder for people to vote — particularly people of color — to vote. So go to IWILLVOTE.com.

Secondly, we’re in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for our administration — President Obama’s administration before this — we have put together I think the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics. What the president is trying to do is discourage people from voting by implying that their vote won’t be counted, it can’t be counted, we’re going to challenge it and all these things.
