It's a bogus holiday invented by Ron Karenga, an avowed Marxist, in 1966 to give African-Americans a chance to reconnect to their African heritage. The holiday's founder, Karenga, has a long rap sheet and was convicted for felonious assault and false imprisonment for the torture of 2 women.

In this age of poliltical correctness in the United States, we are forced to acknowledge this fraudulent holiday because to not to do so would invite charges of racism.

Karenga created the holiday as an alternative to celebrating Christmas. Kwanza derives its name from the Swahili term for "first fruits" so it suggests an African harvest celebration. Yet no one - anywhere - celebrates harvest in December. You will not be able to find roots for this holiday in Africa or anywhere else. The whole thing is entirely made up by a convicted felon.

HA! you certainly pulled a switcheroo from sports to academics when wisconsin's sports kicked washington's butt. however to respond to your "top 5 med school" statement, wisconsin has the leading program in stem cell research for state colleges and is one of the leaders in nanotechnology research. UW-madison has a great med school, and specializes in law. i'm sure washington has an awesome med school but that doesnt mean washington is any better...

first, wisc. never beat UW. next, i asked for UWisc. not UWisc. of Madison, otherwise i could go to UW of Tacoma, and other great schools around the Greater Seattle-Tacoma area. and stem-cell research isn't much to be proud of since it's still under fire from Conservatives. i could get u the stats for UW schools, but u get the point that Washington is better than Wisconsin.....i hope

nope. just dont feel like debating. especially since i know little about washington and you know little about wisconsin. if it was something we both know a lot about, like sports, id take the time to argue.
