This is a Tournament Players Association Year 5 [TPA5] event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments which are detailed here: viewtopic.php?f=89&t=207126
All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You do not need to do anything more than join one or more of the TPA5 events that will be announced on Mondays. Check back on the scoreboard to see how you're doing:

It's the holiday season, folks, and you know what that means: Nutcrackers galore!
I'm referring, of course, to the famous ballet set to music by Tchaikovsky and originally choreographed by Lev Ivanov, assistant to the great Marius Petipa.

In this tournament, you will audition for your neighborhood Nutcracker!
When you sign up, you must chose one of the following divertissements: Battle, Snow, Spanish, Arabian, Chinese, Russian, Marzipan, Flowers.

In Phase 1, you will audition to prove to the director that you are the best at your chosen divertissement!
The auditions for each divertissement will be a 6-player assassin game on the map for that divertissement:
Battle: Trench Warfare
Snow: Age of Realms 2
Spanish: Iberia
Arabian: Middle East
Chinese: Greater China
Russian: Soviet Union
Marzipan: Third Crusade
Flowers: Portland
(NOTE: Feel free to suggest maps that you might think better suited for certain divertissements - but justify your suggestions, please).
All games will be played using the following settings: auto, sequential, escalating, chained, fog, no trench, 30-round limit.
If you eliminate someone else's target, you will be eliminated from the tournament and put at the bottom of the final standings, and the audition game will be replayed without you.
In any other scenario, the winner of the audition game will advance to Phase 2, and the remaining players will be ranked by troop count.
Players who finished second in their audition games will be ranked among each other for TPA scoring purposes by the number of troops they had at the end of the game divided by the number of territories they had at the end of the game.
The same will be true for players who finish third, as well as players who finish fourth in 5- or 6-player games and players who finish 5th in 6-player games.
Players who are assassinated will be ranked among each other by the number of rounds they lasted divided by the number of territories they started the game with.
Any players who are still tied will be considered tied for TPA ranking purposes.

In Phase 2, you will perform for a packed house and attempt to convince the audience that your divertissement is the best divertissement in the whole production.
You will do this by playing 3 terminator games on the Christmas map (which I can have opened at any time I need it opened).
In each game the winner will be awarded one point, the player with the most kills will be awarded one point, and the player who gained the most points through kills will be awarded one point.
In the case of a tie in any one category, each tied player will receive one point.
At the end of the 3 terminator games, the player with the most points wins the tournament.
The other 7 players will be ranked by number of points.
If there is a tie for first at the end of Phase 2, it will be broken first by total Phase 2 wins, then by total Phase 2 kills, then by total points gained through kills in Phase 2 games, and finally by a 1v1 or terminator tiebreaker game on the Christmas map.
Other ties at the end of Phase 2 will not be broken for TPA ranking purposes.

Any questions, please feel free to ask!

Merde!

(For those who don't speak French, "merde" is the French word for "s**t")

In ballet, that's what we say instead of "Good luck," sometimes accompanied by a gentle kick to the bum ("break a leg" is acceptable, though more commonly used by actors).
I think because stepping in it is considered to bring good luck? I don't know for sure, though.
