WINNER: dustin800 -- FCS FOOTBALL BRACKET 2013
Posted: Thu Nov 28, 2013 1:35 am
Here's a tournament for all those college football fans, who prefer to see a true champion crowned on the field. The FCS (I-AA) football playoffs begin this weekend, so I'm offering an expanded Conquer Club version.
The real deal has 24 teams, but for fairness, I'm using a 16-team balance bracket for our Conquer Club battle.
Choose your team out of the mix at the bottom of this post…teams will be seeded into the bracket 1-16 based on CC score at the time of sign-up. The tourney is open to freebie players, but you must keep pace with the flow of play (about 12 maps per week).
RULES:
The game will be broken down into four quarters like a regular football game. Each quarter will feature three maps for a total of 12 maps for the game. Maps will be pre-selected for each quarter of the game (see below) and will change with each round of the playoffs. No map will be repeated.
Settings throughout will be escalating, chained, foggy.
Championship maps:
First quarter — CCU
Second quarter — Arms Race!
Third quarter — Philadelphia
Fourth quarter — USA
Semifinal maps:
First quarter — San Francisco
Second quarter — Rail USA
Third quarter — Woodboro
Fourth quarter — Tamriel
Quarterfinal maps:
First quarter — Classic
Second quarter — Feudal War
Third quarter — USA Great Lakes (road map)
Fourth quarter — New Jersey
First-round maps:
First quarter — 8 Thoughts
Second quarter — Benelux
Third quarter — Quad Cities
Fourth quarter — Poker Club
SCORING:
Win in 7 rounds or less = 7-0 (+7)
Win in 8-10 rounds = 7-3 (+4)
Win in 11-14 rounds = 3-0 (+3)
Win in 15+ rounds = 7-6 (+1)
At the same time, I will be tracking a game-long result for how quickly games are won. Each map is capped at 15 rounds, so you will accumulate a total based on (15-minus-the round you win). So if you win in 6 rounds you would gain (15-6) nine points. This score will be kept throughout the full 12-map showdown. At the end of the game if you have a 20+ margin you will receive a bonus TD (7 points), if you have a 10+ margin you will receive a FG (3 points). If the margin is 9 or less then no bonus is scored.
Here's an example…
First quarter...
North Dakota State wins in 6 rounds (7-0)
North Dakota State wins in 9 rounds (7-3)
Bethune-Cookman wins in 16 rounds (6-7)
North Dakota State would lead 20-10 at the end of the 1st quarter.
North Dakota State would hold a +15 total in the bonus tally.
OVERTIME:
If the score is tied after 4 quarters (and the margin bonus), then the 4th quarter map will be used as a winner-take-all overtime showdown…1 map, 1 game for OT.
I hope that all makes sense…feel free to ask questions in this thread, so I can clear things up for everyone at the same time.
