Winners: Arsenal - PaRKoN and hyposquasher
Greetings!
Welcome to the 2013-2014 Barclays Premier League 2v2 tournament. I will accept 20 signups, each representing 1 of the teams participating in the 2013-2014 Premier League season. The schedule will mirror the BPL schedule, which will be released on June 19, 2013. Premium only please.
At signup, please post the BPL team you wish to represent, and your home map.
Scoring
In order to be as accurate as possible to actual Premier League scoring, the tournament's scoring will work as follows. A team gets 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. Draws will be determined as followed: for each map listed under Maps & Settings, I have researched all 2v2 games (public, private, tourney, and clan war) on those maps with the settings to be used in this tourney. Next to that map is a round number. Any game finishing in the listed round or later will result in a draw on the scoreboard, regardless of who actually wins the game.
At the end of the regular season, the 4 teams with the most points will compete in a playoffs (see below).
Settings & Maps
The settings for every games will be: Auto, Sequential, Escalating, Chained, Foggy, No Trench, 20 Round Limit.
Below is the table of maps chosen, the average game length on completed games using the above settings (excluding speed games). All games finishing in the "Draw Round" or later will be determined as draws on the scoreboard, regardless of who wins the game.
Rail USA - (Total Rounds - 309) --- (Number of games - 36) --- (Draw Round - 10)
Playoffs
Obviously, there is no playoff system in the BPL, but in order to simulate entry into the Champions League (to give incentive to finish in the Top 4), I will be conducting a 4 team playoff at the conclusion of the regular season. The playoffs will consist of a "double round robin" in which each team will play every other team twice, once on each team's home map (points will reset at the beginning of the playoffs and will not carry over from the regular season). The team with the most points at the end of the playoffs wins the tournament. If there is a tie between two teams at the conclusion of the playoffs, one "winner take all" game will be played on a random map with the settings used in the tourney.
In the case of a tie for entry into the playoffs, the first tiebreaker will be head to head record. The second tiebreaker will be win totals over the course of the season. If that still doesn't break the tie, then away wins over the course of the season will be the third tiebreaker.
Each team will play a total of 38 games, exluding the playoffs. Since the 2013-14 season schedule isn't released until late June, the tournament will not begin until around July 1, and my goal is to send about 1 game per week.
