This Tournament will be played solely on the Antartica map, but it has a very interesting twist to it. You must sign up as a team of three but the game setup will be a little odd. PLEASE give team name.
The goal will be to have the team that earns the most points each round to advance

Qualifier Round:
Part I
All 12 teams will be split into 3 different groups. Each player on your team will face the corresponding opponent on all three other teams in 1v1 matches of the following setup (3 total 1v1s per team member):
Standard turn, automatic deploy, no spoils, unlimited, fog, no trench
WORTH 1 POINT EACH (and a bonus point for winning all 3)

Part II
In the same groups you will then play 3 triples games, 1 against each opposing team with the following settings:
Triples, standard, automatic deploy, no spoils, chained, fog, no trench
WORTH 3 POINTS EACH

The points will then be tallied and the top 2 from each group advance and the two best scorer wild card teams will also advance.

Quarter-/Semi-/Finals
Here begins a normal bracket tourney with the remaining 8 teams, best of 3 against your opponent team in Triples matches of the same above settings. The winners advance.

This Tournament is open to premium players only so that it can progress smoothly with the game load. Single players are welcome, but will not be added to the signups without 2 more singles to round off the team.

The 1v1 phase of the qualifier round is complete. Some players indeed had some outstanding results, and every group had the maximum of 3 players winning all 3 of their 1v1 games! These players certainly deserve mentioning: Chewie1, uyumaykimaw, arno30, EminenceGrise, rh-headhunter, silversun6, peanutman, Silvanus and alaskanassassin. You guys have certainly done your teams proud!

In addition to that, two teams had the benefit of having two of their players scoring the maximum 4 points for this phase of the tournament. This will certainly give OSATP and Rag-tag Crew 2 a huge boost going into the next phase.

Coming up will be the team phase of the qualifiers.

Since tiebreaker rules were not stated in the original tournament thread, I shall lay them out now.

• For ties within the same group, the team which won more of their 4 head-to-head matches (1 team, 3 individual) will progress. If it's 2-2, the team which won the team game will progress.
• For ties across different groups (for wildcard), the team which had more wins in the team round will progress. If that doesn't settle the tie, a team game will be played between the two teams.

Update

Group 1 has finished all their games for the Qualifier Round, and the scoreboard for them is now set in stone. The top 2 teams in their group, Les Hussards and The Honourable Knights, managed to extend their lead over the others, winning 2 games each and thus guaranteeing their spots in the Bracket Stage.

Speaking of which, qualifying for the Bracket Stage requires a top 2 finish within the group, and a top 2 out of the three 3rd placed teams. (In other words, the lowest scoring team for each group, and the lowest scoring 3rd placed team will be eliminated.) As such, the score of 8 points is the mark to beat, as set by Frozen Fighters.

Update

Earlier this week, Group 2 finished all their games for the Qualifier Round as well. OSATP continued their stellar performance from the 1v1 phase, and won all 3 of their team games, keeping them at the top of the table for their team and even the entire competition. Rag-tag Crew 1 managed to snag wins in their other 2 games, and secured their spots as 2nd within their group; while EMPIRE wrangled the last win of the group to gather a total of 8 points for the round.

Over in Group 3, half of the games are now complete, but the verdict of who's qualifying or not is already out - as Anteaters, The Dark Warriors and Rag-tag Crew 2 each have scored above 8 points thus far, they all qualify to the bracket stage of the tournament. The only thing that is yet to be confirmed is their order of finish.

As Frozen Fighters and EMPIRE are both tied and the tiebreaker cannot separate their performance, they will be playing a tiebreaker game to determine which team will earn the final spot in the bracket stage through the wildcard.

For the bracket stage, this is how I will be seeding the teams:

• 1st - 3rd Seed: First placed teams from Groups 1-3, ordered by final points.
• 4th - 6th Seed: Second placed teams from Groups 1-3, ordered by final points.
• 7th - 8th Seed: Wildcard qualifier teams from Groups 1-3, ordered by final points.
• In the case of ties in final points, tiebreaker system will be used; failing which, Random.org.
• Matchups will be (1) vs. (8), (5) vs. (4), (3) vs. (6), (7) vs. (2).

The Wildcard Tiebreaker is now complete, with EMPIRE moving on in the tournament. With that, we enter the Quarterfinals of the bracket phase, with the top 8 teams.

Seedings and matchups were blind to previous groupings, meaning that some of the matchups might lead to teams playing against people they've already played before. Each round is now a best of 3, so don't be fazed if you lose 1 of the games! Good luck!

We are now halfway through our Quarterfinals, as two of our matchups are now complete. (5) Rag-tag Crew 1 upset (4) The Honourable Knights by taking their berth in the semifinals with a clean sweep of all three games. Meanwhile the (2) Anteaters lived up well to their seeded positions, and swept their games against (7) Rag-tag Crew 2 as well, just as they did in the Qualifier Round.

Both of these teams now await their opponents to join them in the semifinals. (6) The Dark Warriors have taken the first game against their opponents, (3) Les Hussards, and seem poised to take the remaining two games as well. If (3) Les Hussards do indeed leave at this point in the competition, then all teams from Group 1 will be eliminated early in this competition. Perhaps it was an easy grouping over there?

On the other side, we have (1) OSATP and (8) EMPIRE still in the thick of combat, though (8) EMPIRE looks like they may pull off an upset by taking 2 wins out of the 3 games, despite losing to (1) OSATP in the Qualifier Round. If that is the case, then we may see 3 out of the 4 top seeds being eliminated far earlier than expected.

Looks like I spoke far too soon on this one, as (3) Les Hussards have just taken the second game to even up the score! Looks like anything can happen for the ongoing matchups, so it's anybody's guess as to who's going to make it through!

Just over a week later, and the dust has settled in the third matchup. (6) The Dark Warriors have emerged victorious over (3) Les Hussards, and will now be facing their opponents from Group 3 in the Qualifying Round, (2) Anteaters. Will (6) The Dark Warriors be able to turn the tables on the team that dominated in their group, or will the (2) Anteaters easily trample yet another finalist from their group, as they did with (7) Rag-tag Crew 2?

In the last remaining matchup of the quarterfinals, there are still no results to report.

At long last, the final result for the Quarterfinals has come in. After just scraping into the top 8 teams through the tiebreaker in the qualifying round, (8) EMPIRE cause a major upset in the tournament as they take down the top seed team, the previously unstoppable (1) OSATP, by winning their matchup with a 2-1 score. It definitely was an intense 3 games, with the games being long drawn out.

In the Semifinals, the (2) Anteaters seek to repeat their qualifying round success over Group 3 opponent (6) The Dark Warriors, while the latter team will certainly be seeking to pull off another upset en route to the finals. As that matchup enters Round 8 of their games, the invites for the matchup between Group 1 opponents (8) EMPIRE and (5) Rag-tag Crew 1 have been sent out. (5) Rag-tag Crew 1 triumphed over (8) EMPIRE in their previous meeting in the qualifying round, but as we've seen, anything can happen!

Update

The first of the semifinals have been completed, with (2) Anteaters maintaining their dominance in the tournament, just edging out their opponents (6) The Dark Warriors 2 games to 1. With that, they book themselves a berth in the finals.

In the other semifinal matchup, (8) EMPIRE seems to have taken a fast lead over their opponents in conquering those territories, but as previous games have shown, anything can happen despite the territory count.

Awww, that's very kind of you, and you're welcome! Yep, the tournament design was simple and effective, so I decided to take it up! Good luck in that last semifinal game anyway, I can't tell what's happening under the fog, heh...

Update

At last, the deciding game of the second semifinal has concluded with (8) EMPIRE taking home the win after a valiant fight against (5) Rag-tag Crew 1. After eliminating a player apiece, things weren't looking good for the fifth seeds, and when GhostofDeath deadbeated out of the game, their fate was more or less sealed.

With that, (8) EMPIRE scrapes their way into the finals, after barely making it into the Quarterfinals through the tiebreaker, and with 2-1 wins in both their Quarterfinal and Semifinal matchups. Not landslide victories, but victories nonetheless, and that's what they'll be hoping to achieve against their opponents, (2) Anteaters.

(2) Anteaters have been relatively unstoppable, coming in on top in their group qualification round, and having a 3-0 victory in the Quarterfinals. The only team game they've lost thus far came in the Semifinals, but they still managed to pull off a 2-1 victory.

The two teams haven't met at all throughout the entire tournament, so while (2) Anteaters may be going into it as the odds-on favourites, we all know that (8) EMPIRE isn't a team to be underestimated. Let the finals begin!

The finals are all still progressing steadily, having spanned the duration of a month now. Nothing to report and no eliminations made so far, though (2) Anteaters seem to have secured 1 game.

At long last, after a month and a half of battling it out in the freezing cold weather conditions of Antarctica, the finals has concluded with the (2) Anteaters holds off another upset from the (8) EMPIRE, winning the matchup with a closely fought 2-1 score.

And so with that, congratulations to slickstick, nibotha and Arya, the winners of the tournament!
