Welcome to Top of the Charts!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary of Game Load and Charting
In each round you will play 2 sets of 5 games each for every single you have in the chart. So if you reach the Top 10 in Round 1, you can expect 2 sets of 10 games in Round 2 as you'll have two singles out.
Charting is based on number of wins, with tie-breaks settled by CC Score in Round 1, and in future rounds by how well the single charted in the previous round.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This tournament has a musical theme and will consist entirely of 1v1 games on Random Map.
Premium only please (5 games at a time) with 97% attendance or higher.
All games will be:
1v1, Random Map
Automatic
Sequential
Escalating
Chained
Sunny
The Scenario
The plan between you and your record company is to release up to 5 singles over the year, as long as they do well!
Format
EDIT: Please see red text for edits to the format to make tiebreaks less common.
For each single you have in each round you will play 2 batches of 5 games against random opponents. You will score points for winning games, and bonus points for getting a high chart position at the end of the round. Everyone will start with 1 single, therefore 2x5 games per round.
There will be 12 rounds, one to represent each month of the year.
Outcome of Results
November:
If a single fails to make the Top 5, your record label decide that they like you as an artist, but feel it was the wrong single, so it will be withdrawn from the shelves and your next single will be released instead (if you have another single to release).
If your only current single fails to make the Top 5, your brutal record label drops you and you’re out of the tournament!
The end of December will be the end of the tournament.

Bonus Points (sales) awarded for high chart positions:
Tie-Breaks
In Round 1 (January), any ties will be settled by CC Score (see next post). After that, ties will be settled by who performed the best in previous rounds (most recent first). If a song was not out in the previous month, the average number of sales earned per single by that artist in the previous month will be used. Any meaningful ties still remaining will be broken via 1v1 round robin between the tied players.
Summary
Each round escalates, so more sales (points) are on offer as we go through the tournament. Bonuses for charting well will also increase through the tournament.
Monthly Chart Positions
Winning and the End of the Tournament
The winner of the tournament will be the player who has sold the most singles over the course of the year.
Signing Up
Here’s your chance to be creative! Please sign up with your band/artist name (this will be your username if you can’t think of anything!) and the titles of 5 singles.
Boring Stuff
All games must be joined within 3 invitations. If you are going to be away, please let me know so I can try and work around it, but I can't guarantee I will be able to and the tournament may move on.
Reserves will be welcome until the end of Round 3 (March). After that the number of players in the tournament will simply decrease.
I reserve the right to disqualify anyone from the tournament for foul play or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
If you can't think of names for your singles I'll give you a song title by the Spice Girls or an equally embarrassing artist.
