Freemiums welcome
So here's the project. Determine the greatest baseball team of all time.
The methodology-I've cut the list to 64 top teams. Here are the requirements I used. First we went through and selected one representative from each team. Yes, like the all star game, every team is represented. We included Giants in SF and NY, Senators, A's in PHL and OAK, Braves in MIL, ATL, and BOS, Browns, as well as Dodgers in BKN and LA. This gives us 37 teams with automatic entry (marked with an *). We then went and selected 27 at large teams. For the at large portion we selected only teams that had won a World Series. For the auto selection we gave preference to teams that had advanced furthest but occasionally went with a team that didn't win it all ('06 Cubs for example). We also were only selecting one team from an era. Thus the Yankees teams that won 5 straight pennants would only put one team into our field. This brought us to the list of 64 teams below. They were then sorted into regions according to year and seeded as you can see. Finally we've added home parks that should have some connection to the team. If they play in a city with a map of that city-that's the home park, otherwise we tried to get something that at least listed the city on it.
The Gameplay:
Games are 1v1, double elimination format (like the college World Series) The championship series will face the winner of the winner's bracket vs. the winner of the loser's bracket. It will be a best of 4 set with the team advancing from the loser's bracket starting the series with 1 loss. This will take us to the finals with 4 bracket champions. The finals would then have 4 teams remaining. The winner of bracket I will play a three game series against the winner of Bracket II with the third game being on Classic. Similarly the winner of Bracket III will play Bracket IV.
The finals will be another three game series with the final game on Classic again (the first two are on the home fields of each team)
In all cases the higher ranked team is the home club (so yes there is really no reason for a 16th seed to have a home stadium because they won't play on it but don't tell me that-I'm having fun here).
Games are
Sunny
Sequential
no cards
chained
Sign ups shall begin as soon as I have the teams all listed in the second post.
