Cosa Nostra Tournament [Winners: ghirrindin & djt5483]
Posted: Mon Jun 15, 2009 10:58 am
Congratulations to Don ghirrindin and his underboss, djt5483, for putting the Chicago Mafia on top!
Cheat, steal, and kill your way up from a lowly associate to gain enough respect to become a soldato, a Made Man in a mafia family. Then, use these same tactics to jockey with your fellow Mafiosi. Climb the family ladder to become a caporegime, an underboss, or even take the reigns as the capofamiglia and become don of your city. But you won’t be alone. Only war will decide who can claim the title capo di tutti capi. And remember: this is cosa nostra, keep the omertá or sleep with the fishes…
Description
This tournament will be fought over 5 rounds. Rounds 1 through 4 will be standard, sequential, flat rate, chained, sunny. Round 5 will be a best of three doubles, sequential, escalating, chained, sunny. 32 players will be divided into two families – the Bonacusso family of New York and the Monaco family of Chicago. All games in the Bonacusso tier will be on the New York map, while the Monaco games will be on the Prohibition Chicago map.
Organization
Round 1 – the 16 associates in each family will be broken into two 8-player matches. The last 5 standing will be Made and become soldati in the family. The first three players eliminated will be denied advancement and remain associates.
Round 2 - the 10 soldati in each family will compete for candidacy to the position of caporegime (and beyond). They will be matched up in two 5-player games in each family. Last 2 standing advance to round 3, first 3 eliminated remain soldati.
Round 3 – the 4 soldati in each family eligible for advancement will compete with each other in 2 1v1 matches per family. The winners of each round 2 game will be matched with the second place player of the other round 2 game in their family (ex. winner of Bonacusso game 2 will play the last player eliminated by the winner of Bonacusso game 1). The winners of these four games will move on to round 4, while the losers will maintain the position of caporegime.
Round 4 – the 2 remaining competitors in each family will vie for the position of capofamiglia (don) of their respective family. The loser of this match will become the underboss, the right hand of the don, and fight at his side in the coming mob war.
Round 5 – war between the New York and Chicago families will determine who will claim the title capo di tutti capi. This will be a best of three doubles match with the capofamiglia and his underboss fighting it out with their counterparts in both their home city and that of their rivals. If neither team wins a clear victory, a tie-breaker on the Italy map will settle the score.
