Sorry, i think I might have deleted the message before having entered all games ... seems I'm missing one.

Although hopefully doesn't matter as already winning 2-0 and likely to win a third.

An update for those of you with missing opponents:

-dtellis is on vacation with crappy internet; he'll be back Saturday
-germwarfare has dropped out due to not having premium anymore and will be replaced
-can't seem to get in touch with Blackberrypicker; if I don't hear anything by Saturday I'll replace him

I offered any open slots to the four players who were eliminated in the round 2 tiebreaker, before I go to the reserve list; Bigragooch and what,me worry? volunteered. A coin flip gives germwarfare's spot to what,me worry?; Bigragooch will take Blackberrypicker's spot if necessary.

...So hopefully we should be able to get all the games started by this weekend.

maybe I should go back to school and do maths but don't think can play 15 games against 9 opponents and "play different opponents in EVERY game" .... FINAL ROUND: There will be 10 players who will all play random people out of the 9 others, this round you will play 15 games all with different opponents

My suggestion is make the final 18 games so play every opponent twice

Standings updated; there are five games still unfinished in round 3. Everyone with at least 3 wins will advance. Most likely there will be another tiebreaker for players with 2 wins (this will be needed unless the players with 1 win lose all their remaining games).

All round 3 games are done, and the tiebreaker game has been sent out. Everyone with 3+ wins advances, and the 8 players with 2 wins are competing for 6 slots.

Been a while since the last update, but the tournament is still active. Nobody's been knocked out of the tiebreaker yet; as soon as two players are eliminated, I'll get round 4 started.

My Round 4 is completed with a 7 win result which should be enough so - BRING ON THE FINAL !!!!

and I still think the final should be 18 games where all players play each other twice rather than random selection.

I guess I ended up with 6, which should, theoretically, be enough to put me through to the finals, but I'm interested to see how others' games pan out.

Yah, that would make more sense in terms of determining the best 1v1 player out of the group. It depends on the goal of the tournament, though. Some tournaments really aren't aimed at getting the best player, but rather at getting the one who fortune brings to the top. That being said, the theme of this one is stated as:

So the question is, do we want to stick with the random settings and admit that this compromise the stated intent of the tournament a little (while perhaps adding more flavor), or do we change the rules to most efficiently pursue those goals. Realistically, the whole thing is based on random selection of maps the whole way through, so perhaps the random is as much of a theme as what is stated (or more so).

Standings updated.

Yeah, I agree--playing everyone fits the idea better. So far I've got 6 votes (counting myself) for "change it" and 2 votes for "don't care", and most of the "change it" votes are likely to make the next round. I believe I will change it.

Round 4 is done. (One game is still unfinished, but neither player can advance.) This time we don't need a tiebreaker, so the final round games will be out shortly.

Standings updated. We're about 1/3 done with the final round; ubcman64 has a pretty impressive lead at the moment...

75 out of 90 final round games are done:

  • IronWood currently has the lead
  • ubcman64 has a chance to win
  • Jackofalltrades has a chance to tie
  • the rest of us have been eliminated
