Winner: China
Congratulations to banana_hammocks, Natewolfman, vtonic and topper.
Welcome to the 2009 World Baseball Classic quads tournament. This competition will mirror the actual WBC, with 16 teams competing in two rounds of double-elimination brackets, followed by single-elimination semifinals and championship. So even if your team totally sucks, you'll get two games out of the deal.
The Setup
Brackets are posted below. Round 1 will feature four double-elimination brackets, each bracket on a single map (Pool A on the Asia map, Pool B on North America, Pool C on Canada and Pool D on the Caribbean Islands map). Round Two will consist of two brackets played on the San Francisco and Charleston maps. The semifinals and championship will be played on the USA map.
The Games
All 39 games will be sequential, flat rate, chained and fogless.
Signups
From each team, I will need the following: four players and one of the 16 countries listed in the second post. That's it. Your spot will not be reserved until you have four players. Saying "Me and three other guys who will be determined later" does not guarantee you Japan. Feel free to post your individual interest, and if I get four of you, I'll put you in a team together. Gather your team and post your official signup in this format:
Country: xxxx
Team members:
xxxx

xxxx
Joining Games
One team will be sent PMs, then the second team after the first team is all joined. If you screw it up (drop the game and screw up the teams, join early, etc.), you will forfeit the game. ***EDIT*** Seems there's some new tags out that allows tournament organizers to assign players to teams. This puts the responsibility of proper teams on me, so I will enforce this rule lightly, seeing as how most of the mistakes will probably be mine. Ha! ***
Timeliness
Show up to your games within 48 hours of receiving your PM or you will forfeit/be replaced.
Foe List
Check your foe list before each game and take your opponents off or you will forfeit/be replaced.
Point Requirements
None.
Substitutions
If you have someone drop out, PM me with your replacement. I will allow this once. Any other player joins without my approval, you forfeit the game.
Freemiums?
Yes, freemiums are welcome to join. You will play only one game at a time, but make sure you have that slot open. See the Timeliness rule above.
Reserves
I'm hoping for two or three teams as reserves, but I'm just as happy to forfeit teams who don't show up.
That's it. Play ball!
