The Emperor of Europe is an immortal, mythical figure, conqueror of all of the old empires of Europe as well as the Eastern Empires that attempted to stretch into Europe.
The Emperor will be the conqueror of all time, having taken control of Empires through thousands of years.
This tournament follows the Freestyle King of Europe (and incorporates lessons learnt from that tournament) and will be a pre-cursor to a potential Terminator World Championship (to determine the Ruler of the World) with regional qualifying groups. This is NOT the qualifying stage for that tournament however.
As with the Freestyle King of Europe, and akin to the American Leader tournament, this tournament is only open to Europeans.
With Europeans playing others from a similar time zone, and a relatively low number of players in each group, players will hopefully have regular turns.
Details: Ancient Empires and Invading Empires from the East (First Phase): Five Groups of 5, top 3 go through. All games Terminator, Freestyle, Flat Rate, Adjacent, Fog.
Each group will play 5 games on Ancient Greece, Alexanderās Empire, Imperium Romanium, Mongol Empire and Middle East maps.
Western European Empires Emerging from the Medieval Period (Second Phase): Three Groups of 5, top 2 go through, plus, the two best-placed 3rd-place players will progress. All games Terminator, Sequential, Escalating, Adjacent, Fog.
Each group will play 5 games on Iberia, France, Netherlands, British Isles and New World Maps.
The Rise of the Star and Fascism (Semi-Final Phase): Two Groups of 4, top 2 go through, plus the best-placed 3rd-place player. All games Terminator, Sequential, Flat Rate, Adjacent, Fog.
Each group will play 4 games on Soviet Union, WWII ā Eastern Front, Germany and WWII ā Western Front maps.
The Union of Europe (Final) 5 players. All games Terminator, Sequential, Flat Rate, Adjacent, Fog.
The final will 4 games played on the Europe and Europa maps (2 games on each). If, after 4 games, players are tied on points the Emperor of Europe will be determined by a best-of-three play-off on the Europe map.
Click image to enlarge. Points Scoring System and Qualification Details show
Match winners score 4 points Second-place scores 2 points Third-place scores 1 point A bonus point is scored for each player you terminate. Players carry forward half of their points total to the next round (rounded up). This is except for the final, where players start from scratch again. Players do not score points for play-off games (see below). Tables will be posted on the forum thread as matches finish. Winners of each match should PM the Tournament Organiser with details of winner, 2nd and 3rd and no.of terminations for each player. In the event of the final qualification position being shared by two players on equal points, number of players terminated will be compared (during the series of games of that round), then number of wins will be compared (during the series of games of that round), then number of players terminated during the whole tournament, then number of wins through the tournament. If players are still equal then they will have a 1-v-1 play-off on the final map of the round (Freestyle, Escalating, Adjacent, Fog). In the final, playersā number of wins and players terminated are not considered ā if points are equal then they progress to a best-of-three play-off (Sequential, Flat Rate, Adjacent, Fog).
Game Options show
Matches will be Terminator (obviously) and Sequential, except for the first round which will be Freestyle (to speed things up). Games will also involve Flat Rate Spoils, except for the second round which will be Escalating (again, to speed things up). All games will involve Adjacent Reinforcements and Fog of War. Most of the time, there will be two games at-a-time, to enable the organiser to synchronise the groups as much as possible.
Players show
There will be 25 players. Players must have a 97% attendance record, have played a minimum 25 games, and not have dropped out from one of my tournaments previously! Freemiums welcome (although there will be two-games-at-a-time). Players will be seeded (according to rank when signing-up) and grouped with players of other nationalities as much as possible for the first round. There should therefore be groups of mixed rank and nationality in round one (as much as possible). Players will have 24 hours to join their games from when the PM is sent. Falure to do so will result in a reserve being sought (harsh, I know). Winners of each match should PM the Tournament Organiser with details of winner, 2nd and 3rd and no.of terminations for each player.
Reserves show
All reserves will be sent a PM when an opening occurs. The first reserve to respond will gain a place. For the first round, reserves will be drawn from the reserve list. After each round play-offs between players knocked-out will be used to determine the top 3 reserves (a rapid play-off, freestyle and escalating conditions on a map from the relevant stage of the tournament). Players knocked-out will be sent a PM to register interest in the play-offs. They will have 24 hours to respond. After the first round, reserves will be drawn from players succeeding in reserves play-offs. The top 3 reserves will be sent a PM when an opening occurs. The first reserve to respond will gain a place. If no reserve is found within 24 hours then a PM will be sent to the next 3 reserves. This will continue until a reserve is found. If no players are found from the reserves participating in play-offs then reserves will be sought from the original reserve list (again 24-hour response time). If this is unsuccessful then a reserve will be recruited by mass PM (again 24-hour response time). If this is still unsuccessful then the matches in question will take place with one fewer player with the same qualification conditions, except that the 3rd place player from the group in question would not be considered eligible for qualification (in the Second Phase and Semi-Final Phase).
Joining Games show
Players will be informed when they have a game and will have 24 hours to join. If they fail to do so then they will be ejected from the tournament and a reserve will replace them.
Winning Games show
Winners of each game are expected to PM the Tournament Organiser the order in which players finished (1st, 2nd etc.), and no.of terminations for each player.
Build-Up Games show
After 30 rounds I will review the game (if it is holding-up the schedule). Players will receive notification, and have five rounds to end the game. If this does not happen, the game is a draw, with the remaining points being shared (two players get 3 points each, three players get 2 points each, and if four or five players remain, they get 1 point each).
Future Tournaments show
If the tournament runs smoothly then future, much larger tournaments will be run. With more players, there would be an extra stage towards the end ā a Modern Nations of Europe Stage - incorporating games on Ireland, Italy, BeNeLux (if a Belgium map doesn't turn up), Malta, Luxembourg (if a Belgium map does turn up), Scotland and Iceland. Another potential, although less likely, new stage would be The Cold War Stage (using Arms Race and Duck and Cover maps). New maps that may be introduced in the near future will also be considered to be introduced at the appropriate stage of the tournament. For Example: the Holy Roman Empire Map would be introduced at the Western Empires Stage (and the Battle of Trafalgar Map and maybe Indian Empire and Ancient Denmark Maps introduced if they arrive soon); the France 18th Century Map would replace the France map in the Western Empires Stage; the Europe 1914, WWII Europe and the Ottoman Empire Maps would be introduced at the Star and Fascism Stage (and Poland 1922 if it arrives); Vinland and Peloponnesian War Maps would be introduced at the Invading Empires Stage; and San Marino and Romania Maps would be introduced in the Modern Nations Stage (plus Wales, Belgium, Switzerland and England Maps if they arrive).
