I love the new Vancouver map too much to wait any longer to announce this next edition of the Initech Series. So, it is my pleasure to present to you: Initech IX: Canada.
Like all Initech tournaments, this edition will be sequential, flat rate, chained and foggy. There will be a mix of standard and terminator games, as explained below. If you have any questions after reading this post, please do not hesitate to ask.
OVERVIEW
3-round, 60-game, 3-map, 24-player tournament. All players guaranteed six games. Max games for an individual player is 18. Games will vary between 4-player and 6-player games.
ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
Premium only, sorry. You'll need more than 4 games open at all times.
Also, minimum 20 games played. Too many deadbeats recently, so I want established players.
RULES
All games will be Sequential, Chained, Flat Rate, Foggy
50% of games will be standard.
50 % of games will be terminator.
MAPS
The same 3 maps will be used in all rounds: Canada, Montreal and Vancouver.
POINT SYSTEM
Throughout the entire tournament, the following point system will be utilized:
Each Standard map win will be worth 15 points.
Each Terminator map win will be worth 5 points, with each elimination (including the final one) being worth 2 points.
ROUNDS
The first round will consist of six 4-player groups. Each group will play six games (3 standard on each map, 3 terminator on each map). The top two finishers in the group advance.
The semifinal round will consist of three 4-player groups. Each group will play six games (3 standard on each map, 3 terminator on each map). The top two finishers in the group advance.
The final group will consist of six players. Six games will again be played (3 standard on each, 3 terminator on each). The player with most points is tournament champion.
SEEDINGS
Once I have 24 entrants, I will divide everyone into four pots by points/rank. One person from each pot will randomly go into each first round group.
TIEBREAKERS
The first tiebreaker will be standard map wins for the round in question. Second tiebreaker will be the overall point total from the tournament up to that point. Third tiebreaker will be standard map wins for the duration of the tournament. Fourth tiebreaker will be a head-to-head game on the Canada map--standard with all other tournament settings.
