Top tourney, Blitz, must be one of the best I've played. Nice points structure, fun maps, challenging settings, good teams... the firm but fair, and always welcoming Mr Holic at the helm. Just wish we could have finished a couple of spots higher & it would have been perfect!
Looking forward to more. Just one thought for the future: if you could extend the joining deadline to 48 hours before you start losing points, would take the sweat out for us amateurs & still get games going promptly.

One nit that I did notice is that the post on the first page lists them as having won game 5842310 against us, but that wasn't a game we played against them so I think that is an error. I don't think it affected our points so it probably doesn't matter anyway but I thought I would mention it.
Blitz, I would like to thank you for running this tournament since I am sure it has been a ton of work.![]()
One request I would like to make as we head into the final round is to reconsider removing the -6 points that we got for failing to sign up for some games on time. I understand the need for that rule and really have no problem with the resolution that was reached with Bigragooch if we were playing any other team in the finals. But given that we are playing the team that happens to contain the organizer of the tournament I think that you guys have an unfair advantage with regards to the negative point rule. In effect, it is impossible for your team to be unaware that the games are starting because you are the one who gets to start them. I hope that makes sense.
Again, I just want to reiterate that I don't have a problem with the rule in general and think it is fair if it applies to everyone equally. But in this case, there is no realistic way that it would have applied to your team at any point, so it basically gives us an unfair handicap when being compared to your team.
In addition, I think the spirit of the rule is to insure that no teams are deadbeating and failing to join games on time which is a pain for everyone. I'd like to think that by this time both teams have proved that we are committed to the tournament so the rule has little value anyway. So for purposes of deciding the final winner, I would propose that the "negative point" slates are wiped clean.
It probably won't matter anyway when you guys beat us by 20, but I thought I would mention it now because if we end up losing by 6 or less I think we will have a legitimate concern and I would think from your perspective you would want to feel like you beat us on fair terms rather than because we had a handicap that you didn't have.
I understand if you guys disagree, but wanted to bring it up as a topic of conversation now rather than at the end in case it happens to matter.
In either case, good luck in the finals--I'm sure it will be fun!
Bigragooch wrote:That is an interesting point by my teammate Geoe and one I hadn't thought of previously. However, I don't think it makes a difference either way. Here's why:
If I understand the standings correctly, going into the final round, the scores are as follows:
1. Horsemen 176.0
2. Bigragooch and His Immortals 171.5 (or 177.5 if the penalty were removed)
There are 9 games left if B&HI win 5 and Horsemen win 4, the final score would be (assuming 5.5 per game):
1. Horsemen 198.0
2. Bigragooch and His Immortals 199.0 (or 205.0 if the penalty were removed)
On the other hand, if B&HI win 4 and Horsemen win 5, the final score would be:
1. Horsemen 203.5
2. Bigragooch and His Immortals 193.5 (or 199.5 if the penalty were removed)
Basically, it all comes down to who wins the most games in the final match up. Please let me know if you see an error in my calculations.
And I am fine providing 48 or even 72 hours for signups in the final round (especially with the holidays approaching).
Thanks Blitz!
