FIRST MAP: TRANSSIBERIAN 1914
1917 REVOLUTION!
The Workers' and Peasants' Red Army started out as the Soviet Union's revolutionary communist combat groups during the Russian Civil War of 1918-1922. It grew into the national army of the Soviet Union. By the 1930s the Red Army was among the largest armies in history.
The "Red Army" name refers to the traditional colour of the workers' movement. On 1946 the Red Army was renamed the Soviet Army.
SECOND MAP: STALINGRAD
STALINGRAD 1942-1943
The Battle of Stalingrad was a major battle of World War II in which Nazi Germany fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad . The battle took place between 23 August 1942 and 2 February 1943. It is the largest battle on the Eastern Front and was marked by its brutality and disregard for military and civilian casualties. It is among the bloodiest battles in the history of warfare, with the higher estimates of combined casualties amounting to nearly two million. In its defeat, the crippling losses suffered by Germany's military proved to be insurmountable for the war. The battle was a turning point in the war, after which the German forces attained no further strategic victories in the East

OPERATION BAGRATION 1944
The operation resulted in the almost complete destruction of the German Army Group Centre and three of its component armies: the Fourth Army, Third Panzer Army and Ninth Army. It "was the most calamitous defeat of all the German armed forces in World War II".[13] By the end of the operation most of the western Soviet Union had been reconquered and the Red Army had achieved footholds in Romania and Poland.
