Alpha Beta 13 [Winner: Ghost_Rider]

Welcome to Alpha Beta 13.
NOTICE #1: There will be one FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE in the Alpha Beta format beginning with Alpha Beta 13. Whereas in the first 12 Alpha Beta tournaments, Round 9 was not always the definitive final round; beginning with this tournament, it will be the definitive final round. In the first 12 AB tourneys, if the Alpha Champion lost in Round 9, to keep with a pure double elimination format, a final (Round 10) game was played on the Alpha map: Classic. The problem with that aspect was that the tournament champion could win the tournament without having to beat the Beta map. That is a problem, because this tournament system was meant to highlight a player's ability to win on established maps AND the new Beta map.
Under the new format, although the Alpha Champion will not be afforded two losses. He/she (and the other Alpha Championship finalist) will still have the advantage of playing less games. Therefore the motivation to win the Alpha Bracket remains in tact.
Under the new format, a future Alpha Beta Champion could lose his first Alpha map and then win eight straight Beta maps. But that is still preferable to the old format whereby a Alpha Beta Champion could win six established Alpha maps and lose his only Beta map.
Happily, the new format increases the odds of highlighting a player's ability to win on the Alpha Maps and the Beta Map.
NOTICE #2: To include Classic in the Alpha Beta system still, the Alpha map structure (round by round maps) have changed. Note that the usage of Classic in Round 1 (16 games) reflects the map's popularity as well.The new map structure is listed (Compare to previous Alpha Beta if interested.)
Tournament Set-Up
-- This will be a nine round, 32 player, 1 vs. 1 quasi double elimination bracket styled tournament. Please note that a minimum 98 percent turn percentage is required to be admitted into the tournament.
- Quasi double elimination means that final between the winner of the Alpha Bracket and the winner of the Beta Bracket will be the champion. Therefore, the second place finalist may finish the tournament with one or two losses.
-- All 32 players will begin in the Alpha Bracket. The opening bracket is determined via random.org.
-- The Alpha Bracket will use a different map each round (See listing below).
-- Win your Alpha Round and continue to compete in the Alpha Bracket.
-- Losers of each Alpha Round will be moved to the Beta Bracket.
-- The Beta Bracket used, will be the California map. If the California map gets quenched (is no longer officially Beta), it will still be considered Beta for the sake of this tournament.
-- Win a match in the Beta Bracket and advance to the next round. Lose a match in the Beta Bracket and you're eliminated.
-- The Alpha Beta Final will feature the Alpha Champion and Beta Champion (Beta Bracket winner through 8 rounds) in Round 9.
-- Also, note that the Alpha Bracket Runner-Up (Loser Of Round Alpha Round 5) goes to the Beta Final in Round 8. Otherwise Alpha losers always play in the following Beta Round. If you haven't deciphered it already, you play less games in the Alpha Bracket. Therefore it pays to win . The road to victory is tougher on the Beta side of the bracket.
