Chappy and Happy [Winners: chapcrap and happyfeet]

Postby chapcrap on Sat Jul 09, 2011 11:40 pm

This tournament is brought to you by chapcrap and happyfeet with conceptual help from IcePack.

All entrants will play doubles games against us on our 8 favorite maps.

The goal of the game is simple: beat Chappy and Happy

In order to win, you need to win over half of your games against us. If more than one team is tied, we will have a tiebreaker between them. If no one wins more than half of the games, the we win!

We will play one round at a time, so it's only one game at a time for participants.
We will give 24 hours to join games.

You were invited, but 40k did not join the game, so it counted as a loss for you. Sorry about that.

The same thing happened to a team on King's Court as well.

What do you mean by more than half? You are saying if no one goes 5-3 that you win? I hope that is not the case with just 8 games. Should have made nine if that is the case. If a great doubles team gets to play at a 50% rate and win a tourney with only 8 games per team they are playing --seems a bit too easy to me. Much more difficult to play for a 5-3 record vs playing for a 50% record.

That is what it meant. It means that you have to go 5-3 against us. If no one reaches 5-3, I think you can say that a doubles team is pretty good. That means the best team against them went 4-4. So far we have lost only 8 games in 5 maps. If that isn't dominant, I don't know what is. There is only 1 team with a winning record against us. And they are 3-2. If they can win 2 more, they'll be the tournament winners it looks like.

That is my point--you are a dominant doubles team--you should be able to go 50% against most teams--especially on your maps--thus I think it was too easy to win your own tourney. I would have suggested at least nine games against each team making it above 50% if I had read the rules when I signed up. I would suggest that if you do it again. No doubt you are a much better doubles team than my team and probably the best in this tourney==you should have made it harder for you to win the tourney.

I have now ran six tourneys where it was me against the field. I made it very tough for me to win because if I were to win I wanted it to be a great win, not just a tourney win on something I should be able to do. So far out of six I have won none and my winning percentage was over 65%. I am pretty sure if you took a consensus of good dubs teams they will win at better than sixty percent and against other good teams they would win at over 50% if they are considered good.

Like I said, no doubt how good of a dubs team you are, but make it a little harder for you to win next time. Even if you do not win this one.

With our team having no chance to be better than fifty percent there is no reason to send us any more games--thanks for hosting

HA -

I do agree with most of your thought and perhaps next time (if there is a next time) we might try 9 maps...or 7.

The thought I had was that for us to win, we would have to beat everyone on at least half, which would more than likely mean that we would have to win 65% or more because I did not think that 8 teams would be going 4-4. If that happened, I would not feel good about winning that at all. As is, we have won about 76% or so, which I do feel good about. I don't feel great about our chances of winning the tournament though, because these last 3 maps aren't exactly maps that we will have a huge advantage on. We have done much better than I thought we would do though. I was not expecting this kind of outcome.

i dont know if its allowed now to add a game if no one reaches 5-3 but only one team reaches 4-4 to do a random i am up for that. yes, these our some of our maps but we dont play them together very often. only one we play together is kings court lol. so, to say we have an advantage isnt really so.
