It has been quite some time since I launched a new Initech. With real-life changes, editions might be more sparse, but the brand has not died and will continue well into the future. As 2010 winds to a close, I'm creating a new Initech specific to this year. I present... Initech XXIII: Terminate 2010!
The concept of the tournament is very simple. It's terminator in nature. And it will use only maps that were quenched in 2010. 4 of the maps have been used in Initech tournaments while the other 11 are making their debut in the franchise. I want to use this tournament to pay tribute to the map-making accomplished in the past calendar year.
OVERVIEW
2-round, 90-game, 15-map, 25-player tournament. All players guaranteed fifteen games. Max games for an individual player is 30. All games will be 5-player in nature.
ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
Premium only, sorry. You'll need more than 4 games open at all times.
Also, minimum 20 games completed. Cannot afford deadbeats in a tournament like this so am limiting it to established players.
RULES
All games will be Sequential, Terminator, Chained, Flat Rate, Foggy
Important note: in the event of a deadbeat, a player will still get credit for eliminating the deadbeating player only if they actually clear them from the map before the game finishes.
MAPS
Chicago, Fractured America, Japan, Nordic Countries, Unification Germany, Unification Italy, Flanders 1302, Central America, Macedonia, Orient Express 1883, Cyprus, Mexico, First Nations South America, Celtic Nations, Balkan Peninsula
POINT SYSTEM
Throughout the entire tournament, the following point system will be utilized:
Each Terminator map win will be worth 5 points, with each elimination (including the final one on each map) being worth 2 points.
ROUNDS
The first round will consist of five 5-player groups. Each group will play sixteen games on the sixteen maps listed above. The player with the most points is group winner and advances to the finals.
The finals will consist of one group of 5 players. Sixteen games will be played on the sixteen maps listed above. The player with most points is tournament champion.
SEEDINGS
Once I have 25 entrants, I will divide everyone into five pots by points/rank. One person from each pot will randomly go into each first round group.
TIEBREAKERS
The first tiebreaker in the first round will be map wins. The second tiebreaker is a best two out of three, head-to-head series on the Cyprus map with tournament settings but as a standard game.
The first tiebreaker in the final round will be map wins in the final round. The second tiebreaker will be points from the first round. The third tiebreaker will be map wins in the first round. The fourth tiebreaker will be the same Cyprus best-of-three tiebreaker listed above.
