This will be a tournament based upon the third crusade which took place from 1189-1192. There were 4 main leaders during the course of the crusade Richard The Lionheart of England, Philip The Second of France, Frederick Barbarossa of The Holy Roman Empire, and Saladin The Ayyubid Sultan of Egypt and Syria.
Round 1
The first round of the tournament will focus on becoming the leader of the individual groups. Each leader has their own map for you to battle for the chance to control the destiny of the crusade.
Richard The Lionheart - England
Philip The Second of France - France 1789
Frederick Barbarossa - Holy Roman Empire
Saladin - Middle East
There will be 4 stages to this round. Each map will start with 5 players and the first person eliminated from the game is eliminated from the tournament. Stage two will then begin on the same map but as a reward to the winner of the stage 1 game they will get to choose the settings of Spoils and Reinforcements. Stage three is the same again with one less player. Stage four is the same again with one less player. As in stage 1 the first person out is eliminated and the remaining two advance to Round 2.
Round 2
I hope you liked your opponent in round 1 because you teaming up with him now to battle out the final of the tournament. The final will be 3 8 player doubles game on the map Third Crusade. Points are awarded as follows 1st 10 2nd 6 3rd 4 4th 2
The team with the most points will win the tournament
The settings for all games except stage 2 ( in which only spoils and reinforcements are different) of the first round are Automatic, Sequential, No Spoils, Chained, and Yes fog of war
Side Note
I realise this is not entirely historically accurate but I always wondered what would have happended had Barbarossa actually made it to the holy land. Also I know Philip the Second left the crusaders before the end but he made the journey which is good enough for this tournament.
