This tournament will be 1v1, single elimination bracket. Seeding will be random. The first two rounds will be single games, after that the quarter finals will be best of three, semi finals best of five and finals best of seven. It is open for freemiums, though, the games can be played one at a time if needed.
Previous tournament: Olafr the Great.
The Danish rebellion had been defeated, and the main players on the Danish side had all been executed. King Olafr placed his kinsman Tryggvi Olafsson on the throne in Denmark.
In Norway Olafr had entrusted the governing of the realm to his young and ambitious half-brother Haraldr. Haraldr had continued Olafr's work towards enforcing the christian religion and expanding the power of the crown. Norway was at the time still not a consolidated kingdom. There were still many kings who were loath to accept the soveriegnty of one ruler. Obviously, there quickly grew a lot of discontent with Haraldr's often violent attempts at enforcing his rule.
Into this situation landed Hakon Eiriksson, the exiled king of Denmark. He quickly stoked up support among the lords of northern Norway, and in 1034 he was acknowledged as king at the Frostu thing in Trøndelag.
When signing up please state which side you are on;
Hakon Eiriksson (the Exile)
Olafr Haraldsson (the Great)
or
Harald Sigurdsson (the Hard)
(Possibly King Jakob of Sweden would take this opportunity to rebel too?)
If you don't claim any side I will place you among Olafr's men.
If you know of any other personalities from the era that you feel could enter in to the story, you are very welcome to play for them.
