This is a Tournament Players Association Year 2(TPA2) event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments. All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You need do nothing more than join one or more of the TPA2 events that will be announced each Monday. Check back on the TPA2 scoreboard in the Tournaments--> General Info forum to see how you're doing.
This is a replacement tournament for the TO who did not get his tournament posted in time.
64 players.
Premium Required
Round 1
8 player games.
Classic, High Seas, World 2.1, Land and Sea, Extreme Global Warming
20 round limit
Escalating, chained, sunny, automatic
Each player will be sorted into 8 different 8 player groups. They will play 5 games on the maps listed. All players who WIN a game will advance. After all games are over, players who have not yet won a game will be sorted into new groups with 8 players in each group (7 if necessary to even out the numbers) and will play again.
When 48 players have a win we will advance to Round 2.
Tiebreaker order
1). number of wins (a player who wins 2 will advance above a player who wins 1)
2). Rounds taken in the win (a player who wins in a total of 15 rounds will advance above a player who wins in 20 rounds)
3). Number of players eliminated in all games-won or lost (a player who eliminates 1 player in Game 2 and 4 in Game 5 for a total of 5 eliminations (regardless of who won the game) will advance over a player who only eliminates 2 players total)
4). Total rounds eliminated in in all games not won (a player eliminated in Rounds 3, 5 and 15 will advance over a player eliminated in rounds 6, 7, and 8 )
5). Fastest Win
6). Draws (a player who lasts 20 rounds in 2 games will advance before one who never lasts 20 rounds)
7). Slowest elimination (not draw). (A player eliminated in Round 19 advances before a player eliminated in Round 15)
8 ). Slowest Worst game (a player eliminated in Round 5 in their worst game will advance above a player eliminated in Round 3).
Round 2
48 players Remaining.
Divided into 8 groups of 6 players.
Maps: North America, Asia, South America, Africa, Europa
Settings are same as Round 1
Again, win and advance to Round 3
Players without a win will be resorted into groups of 6 (5 when necessary) and play again (until we have 24 winners) with the same tiebreaking formulas applying.
24 players will advance
Round 3
24 players Remaining
Divided into 6 groups of 4 players
Maps: Canada, Brazil, Italy, Soviet Union, Madagascar
At this point you understand the concept. 15 players will advance
Round 4
15 players remaining.
Divided into 5 groups of 3
Maps: San Francisco, Hong Kong, Cairns Coral Coast, Berlin 1961, NYC
At this point we may have more winners than advancing players so more wins is better but the tiebreakers remain in effect.
8 players will advance
Round 5/Finals
1 8 player group
Doodle Earth, Antarctica, France, Caribbean Islands, Vancouver
The player with the most wins on these 5 will win. In the event of a tie there will be a tiebreaker amongst those tied. In the finals we will play to a win, not use the tiebreaker.
In the event that a tiebreaker set is needed it will be played on
Tiebreaker 1: Europe, USA, Australia, Portland, Thailand
Tiebreaker 2: First Nations of North America, Greater China, Philippines, Chicago, Europe 1914
Tiebreaker 3: TBD if necessary (will be announced when we reach Tiebreaker 1)
