This is a Tournament Players Association Year 2(TPA2) event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments. All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You need do nothing more than join one or more of the TPA2 events that will be announced each Monday. Check back on the TPA2 scoreboard in the Tournaments--> General Info forum to see how you're doing.

I need 8 teams of 4 players each. Each team has an order of players. The first round, the first player of each team plays the first player of all other teams. The second player of each team plays the second player of every other team and so on. Each round has a different map. The games are Standard games.

This is a points based system, each player gains points for his team based on placement.

1st Place=8 points
2nd Place=7 points
3rd Place= 6 points
4th Place=5 points
5th Place=4 points
6th Place=3 points
7th Place=2 points
8th Place=1 point

At the end of the round, all members of a team have their points added up into a cumulative score. Each round the bottom 2 teams will be eliminated. That means the second round games will have 6 player games, with the points system restructured to award 6 points to 1st place and so on. The third round will have 4 teams, with 1st place being awarded 4 points.

If at any point, more than 2 teams are tied for lowest score, then the average placement of each of the players from each team will be taken, lowest averages are eliminated. If there is still a tie, highest individual finishes from each team will be averaged. Again lowest averages are eliminated.

The Fourth round will be 1v1 games, with a best of 3 for each matchup. Winner of the best of 3 gets a point, loser gets 0 points. The winning team will be the team with the most points gained cumulatively throughout the 4 rounds.

I'm not following the exact format of the games? Will it be 8 player standard games? Or 1v1's?

Tournament rules state:

The tournament format must cause the eventual winner to play at least 3 games.

With this format at most one player from the wining team will be able to play 3 games.
In some valid scenarios, none of the players in the wining team play 3 games.

So I feel this format won't be approved, as only one (or none ) of the wining "team" will be eligible for a medal.

I have decided that this tournament does not meet the minimum requirements for a tournament.

From what I can tell, this team looks more like a standard or 1v1 tournament (more on that in a minute) as opposed to a team tournament. Also, you're not guaranteeing that every player on the winning team will play in 3 games, so this tournament can't fit into the 8-team minimum or the 3-game minimum requirements. Those issues will need to be fixed.

Also, your post is too vague in the format. Are "teams" playing 1v1 games or 8-player games? In either case, why do you only have maps for 6 rounds when it could take more? There appear to be too many holes or too much vagueness in your structure that will need to be clarified before the tournament can be allowed.

Sent a PM and added clarifying lines and additional rounds. Apologies for the confusion, it's been awhile since I ran a tourney and I used my old tourney format.

I don't think the 3 games to designate the MVP should count to the minimum of 3 games to earn a medal. Those games are being played among the winners to designate who gets a reserved spot in the next tournament, not to decide which team will actually win the tournament. That issue still needs resolved.

You also have Gilligan listed twice. His reserved team (7) is what you have listed for Team 2.

What if the 3 games decide where each player finishes for the purposes of TPA scoring?

What happens if there's a tie in the finals? If I counted right, 3-1 in our favor ties it.
