Congrats to IA - VampireM, beersurfer, aaarrrrggh, Swifte, Jimboy, lokisgal, justcallmestupid! Well played!
I’m looking for 8 teams of 5-8 players to compete in the following tourney. Whoever posts the team will be the “team captain”. Please list a co-captain in case you are going to be away.
Quick Summary: Each team chooses 10 home maps and tries to eliminate the opposing teams by beating them on their home maps. If you lose on all 10 home maps, you are eliminated. Last team standing wins.
Who can sign up:
Due to potential game load this tournament is for premium players only. Members can join individually and if there enough, I will place you together as a team without confirming with each player. Signing up individually confirms you will be placed in a team with other individuals, no further consent is needed. I will communicate with those players to determine who that team captain would be.
Maps:
Each team captain will provide 10 home maps, settings, and team members associated to those maps (a map can only be used once per team, regardless of settings chosen). All games will be Automatic and Sequential. The home maps can be listed as Standard, Doubles, Triples, or Quadruples. Each team member must be listed on at least 3 home maps though there is no maximum one team member can play. These home maps and settings cannot be changed after the tournament has started. BETA maps are allowed.
Gameplay:
Each round I will PM the captains & co-captains the list of teams, home maps and settings that are still in play. Attacks will go in 5 round cycles. The first three rounds of this cycle, the captains will choose three from that list that they want to “attack” and provide the players from their team involved in the attack. The three maps being attacked must be from different teams. If the attacking team wins, the map is removed from the list of home maps for the losing team. If the defending team wins, the attacker cannot attack that team the next two rounds. Once a team no longer has any home maps, they are eliminated and removed from the competition. The fourth round of they cycle will allow team captains to attack four home maps. The fifth round will be a Wild Card Round (see below).
Objective:
The objective to this tourney is to have all opposing teams home maps removed before your maps are removed.
Wildcard Round:
Every 5th round will be a Wild Card Round where the attacking team gets to choose the settings for the maps they wish to attack. EDIT 9/1: Teams can change any one setting on each map they are attacking, with a restriction of not being able to go from quads to dubs or vice versa. Quads or dubs can be converted to trips and vice versa.
Frenzy Round:
The 21st round you will be allowed to attack as many other maps as you have home maps remaining. i.e. if you have 8 maps remaining, you can attack 8 opponents maps. If you have 1 map, remaining, you can only attack 1 other map.
Substitutions:
No new players can be added to a team after the start of the tourney unless the team is down to 3 players and is in need of a fourth. Players on home maps cannot be switched around unless the player being removed from the map is leaving the tournament.
Games:
Game loads could potentially get up to 10 per player at the beginning though this is unlikely as it would mean all opposing teams would be attacking the said team. I anticipate 4-5 games at the most per round per player. Once the majority of games are completed in a round, I will then wait a few more days hoping more games are completed before getting things ready for the next round. (I don’t want the whole tournament being held up for an extra 2 weeks if a team chooses the Hive, Quads, Nuclear, Adjacent, Foggy for a Home Map…). Any active games will be listed in the PM to captains, as a map may be close to being removed but not quite official at the time the PM is sent (I will do my best to coordinate timings so that any such issues are avoided as much as possible)
Disclaimer:
I retain the right to refuse any players or teams though this is highly unlikely. I also retain the right to use my best judgement to make any decisions throughout the tourney if they are not outlined above. If need be, I will consult with all remaining team captains to ensure a fair decision has been made, this is also an unlikely scenario.
All games must be joined within 48 hours of notice. If a captain or co-captain has not provided which maps they want to attack within 24-48 hours from my original request, it will be assumed they do not wish to attack in the given round. The only benefit I could see to not attacking a round is towards the end when only 2-5 teams are left and you don’t want to miss a chance of attacking during the “Wild Card” rounds.
Jigger1986 will be my co-manager. He will be responsible for assisting in creating games as well as collecting attack choices and answering any questions in my absence.
Other:
In order to avoid this tournament going over 1 year, at 10 months, I will reevaluate how many home maps are left and if need be, will open up more attacks to speed things up while ensuring fairness for the teams that a large lead on the other remaining team.
If signups go quickly, I may choose to expand this to a 9 or 10 team tournament.
