The main rule would be to not kill the wrong target. This is of course for the benefit of all, but also so that no player loses a chance to play a game that counts. It would suck if a player lost by 2 and it turned out they were DQ'd from a few games because of errors they had made.
Other than that it's just like any assassin game where you'd figure out who is after what player and try to keep them from dominating while at the same time going after your target.
So ultimately there's only two rules: the one above and to win the most games. How you go about doing that is up to you. If you give games to other players that have less points, that's a risk that you can take as it can be considered a strategy. It's a strategy I don't like and one that screws other people over, but it's still a strategy
