Conquer Club -- A Year in Review
And as 2008 sets a happy sail
Let us look back and recount its tale,
What year of cheers, jeers, and things in between,
This year was meaty, and far from lean.
January brought our second birthday
And the Color Committee choosing new colors for play,
Wacicha started his Society of the Cooks
To help newer recruits play from real strategy books,
Over 1 million posts in our General Discussion forum here
And the Dust Bowl map was the first Quenched of the new year.
February brought some spiffy Team CC Badge graphics
To add direction to the forum's action and antics,
The Tournament's Newsletter was in its infancy still,
It's now over 50 strong, what a thrill!
Did we happen to mention our little goof?
Oops, a few games logs went missing, went poof.
March brought a database server upgrade, much needed,
And a forum upgrade that was a little heated,
Friend and foes, avatars on the right,
Moz976 retired and Nightstrike joined as a Tournament Director with much delight,
A ranking readjustment where some of you gained a rank
And some of you lost a rank, and sadly sank.
April brought the Classic Map Touch Up fiasco,
Where black army shadows turned white, oh no!
Debate, debate, debate,
Much love but equally as much hate!
There was no April fools joke or gag,
Unless the fact we had none was the joke...what a drag!
May brought the infamous Das Schloss unwinnable map,
Ugh, never ending games--deadbeat? Or remain in the trap?
Fireside Poet picked up multi hunting duties once more
and Poo-maker was the first to reach 5000 points, what a point soar!
And who could forget the loveable internet trick,
The annoying, tiresome, and illegal Rolling Rick.
June brought ratings in place of feedback, hurray!
And medals like speed, assassin, terminator, and more, ole!
The plugin Map Rank v.1 was born, as was the Foundry Newsletter,
A Mafia exclusive forum debuted to make forum games a little better!
And Team CC grew bigger in size:
Cicero, Lancehoch, Killmanic and the Fuzzy Pengui, were added to our Team CC Franchise!
July brought feedback on the new ratings system in place,
Streamlined and easier and with an automated attendance stat, ace!
Headlines debuted on the front page
To make Conquer Club news more available and all the rage---
Paradicecity9 was the first to get all medals gold,
And Wicked, oh wicked, what isn't already known and hasn't already been told?
August brought a colossal tournament to Conquer Club,
Twenty-four events, the CC Olympics, what's there not to love?
Canoeing, track, fencing and more,
Cycling, tennis, archery, wrestling galore!
Takman2k left our Team CC,
Did someone say klobber, suggs, and interfacer ph, hush quietly.
September brought game 3 million, what a show!
So many games, and more and more were to go!
We added a new international forum to the mix
A place for CC's Italians to hang and get some kicks.
Team CC added Mrbenn, Herakilla, and ChipV
The Foundry, chat, and plugins respectively.
October brought a new Classic map fiasco, and Middle-Earth too,
Centerscape and Classic Shapes were first, debuting much to boo,
The Star Chamber with an impossible task,
To design a new map fast, what more could we ask?
Out came Classic Art, better, but not quite the classic
CC celebrated a Halloween party and Optimus Prime retired to applauding music.
November brought over 100 maps, and our video competition celebration,
N00blet was 1st, Regs 2nd, and karelpieterje 3rd, but hadn't they all really won?
The Foundry debuted some Holiday Map Making Competitions too,
A Central America Amateur Open and an anticipated Centerscape REVAMP, phew!
And Team CC garneered two more volunteers:
Iancanton for the Foundry and Insomnia Red in Chat, cheers, cheers!
December brought a new map picker,
Condensed, cleaner, and slicker,
New community guidelines also debuted--what a read--
And a game settings filter for new recruits--farmers take note and heed!
And last, but certainly not least at all,
Gilligan and Natewolfman joined Team CC as Tournament Directors, what a ball!
And as 2008 sails off into the distance and far away,
What a year we've had, of highs and lows, that I must say,
But what will 2009 have in store?
I am uncertain, but I surely know more, more, more!
