A map of Ethiopia, or the horn of africa, in any case. would be fitting for the astounding number of us residents
ethiopia has all the right geograhical features, such as rivers, mountains, and deserts.

Does Ethiopia have little gray-scaled circles spread equidistant across the country? That seems necessary.

Horn of Africa would be cool. I'd definitely play it

LOL, I was actually thinking about that today, considering all the guerrilla fractions fighting and the sea piracy going on. It could be a modern day educational map.

Right - and then one of Somalia, Nigeria, Costa Rica, etc. etc. until literally every country in the world is represented with a mediocre Conquer Club map.
Why is this site so fixated with maps of countries?
The vast majority of quenched maps are of modern nations, few having any true merit either graphically or in gameplay.
IMHO - Several of the maps already in play should be weeded out for lack of any true interest and the foundry should be encouraging the development of fictional work.

Wait, you want more fantasy type maps? Or Stuff like City Mogul?
I'm not saying its a bad idea, cause there's more of those type of games in development, but, no offense, but I came here to conquer things with little numbers. Preferably land masses.
But yeah, I don't see the point in having just an Ethiopia map but Horn of Africa would be good.

Ethiopia has an extremely rich, and unique history. I think it could make for an excellent map. I'd really like to see more maps based on Africa, since it is often a neglected area of topic.

I agree that we need more absract maps, but why stop people making real world maps? There cant be too many maps, just dont play the ones you dont like.

There's nothing to comment yet. Make a draft of a map and I'll give you comments.

I'd suggest pre-1880s Ethiopian Empire, including modern Eritrea and maybe Djibouti, I dunno, I didn't look at the map too closely.
You know the most about your history and legacy so you're probably the best suited to do this. Take a look at the wars that the Ethiopian empire fought during its day, find battle sites, ect.
I can advise of graphics, but I cannot do as I'm way too committed to other projects.
The best way you're going to get comments it to put up a map as a starting point.

I did it, but if anyone wants to do another, no problem. Even because, I already have some ongoing projects.

As well as the shape of the land, it'd be good to put some more shape to the idea conceptually.... What do you want to represent? How do you want to convey it? How will the gameplay pan out? etc. etc.

I'll do it, dont worry. What I need to know is:
Do I keep the original one, or should I add Sudan and Kenya to it?

I don't think Sudan, Kenya and Uganda are considered to be the Horn of Africa...

I really hope that is because you uploaded it on some site and did not make it that way. It looks pretty good from what I can tell. Get imageshack or something.

Hmm... Well, I think this map could benefit from a legend and some impassables.
And the background image is way too fuzzy.

Rih0... why are all your map drafts so small?
Man, you have 840x800 pixels to use. So use them.
