Okay, here's a new idea.

The Fur Trade in what is now western Canada and Northwestern US during the 1700's through the 1800's.

Game Play:
    -58 territories
    - 8 Starting 'HQ', everything start as 3 neutral
    - Traps and Traplines are coded to start with 5 neutral
    - Holding 1 trap and 1 trapline will give you 2 extra fur traders
    - Simple map with the only other armies you get are by taking over your competitors trading posts. You will get +1 for every 4 trading post you hold (not the normal 1 man for every 3)

This is really hard to tell at the mo, as there are no green lines indicating the fur trade routes as per your legend.

(Apart from that, it is quite a controversial topic at present with the clubbing of seals going on....something i'm not impressed with. )

However, i realise your fur trade map has nothing to do with seals except they're all animals...and animals have fur of some sort. Mind you i'm not impressed that we're the only country in the world that eats the animals on its Coat of Arms.

How do you propose to work this map as far as gameplay goes?

i'd have to give it a thumbs down in it's present state because it looks even worse than some of my busiest maps, but that can of course be improved upon. :) I'd be interested to see how this develops.

OOOps! I made the trade route in the wrong color on the map. it is that light brown line you see on the map.

As far as the fur trade goes, it took place between the late 1600's and the late 1800's.

Gameplay, well, control all fur trading post of the trading company and receive the bonus. I think it would be a little hard to defend each company as the posts are scattered all over.

Any ideas? I'm all ears!

Interesting concept here. Title caught my eye. Your first draft is very poor indeed! Try and make a better draft :D

Not sure why Fort William isn't on there...one of the largest fur trading posts there was in Canada. Should be on the west coat of Lake Superior.

I would love to include every major post and fort, unfortunately there's over 100 of them so I had to pick and choose which ones I included for space. Of course I could always split the map and make 2 maps. One for western Canada and the other for eastern Canada.

12 territs that are intertwined between other continents for one continent bonus of 5??

that aint right.

smaller continents would make this better. look at midkemil for inspiration i suppose

I am slowly working on a revised map. I am a truck driver, so when I get a little free time I work on the map.

If any body that has experience making maps and has more time than I do and would like to take over the design and making of it be my guest. I could use the help!

Nice creative concept, i like that thinking outside the box.
Are all the ocean and bay terts assaultable in each ocean/bay?

Thank you!

Yes they do, I just haven't come up with a way to word it as of yet.

I kind of got that from interpreting the last line of the legend text, but wasn't quite sure.

Well, then I guess it's good then. Of course if anyone has any other ideas on how to word it better, I'll consider any and all suggestions! :D

So will you have starting positions or just start at random?

The gameplay seems fairly straightforward... which I like in a map, I don't really like overly complex maps. But the bonus structure seems a bit too simplistic... I'd like to see some variance in territories.

Since the map is about fur trade... why not include some territories as the source of furs? Like forest where you'd go hunting... for furs.

Or something to that effect. Anyway, something to spice up the gameplay a bit.

Otherwise I think you're doing an awesome job on the map.

PS. as for the legend wording... I'll try to think of something, but right now my brain is too tired...

I'm still thinking about this, right now I am leaning toward having 8 starting positions, with the rest coded as neutrals.

Yes it is simple, because I wanted to do a simple map that wasn't cluttered with extra bonuses, and the like.

Yes I could. I'll think about it.

Question: Is 'trading post' synonymous with 'territory'?

Heh, took me a while to figure that out too. I was searching around the map, thinking "now which ones of these are the posts, they all look the same!" ...until I realized, that all territories are indeed trading posts

Yes it is.

So, is the +1 per 4 territory bonus in addition to the regular +1 per 3 territories, or does it replace it?
