WWII - Market Garden

My idea is to create a map evolving around Operation Market Garden. In 1944 the Allied Forces came up with a daring plan to seize all bridges between Allied territory and Arnhem in The Netherlands in order to get British armoured forces over the Rhine river, shortening the war by months. Several American and British Airborne Divisions and a Polish Airborne brigade were dropped near the bridges with the intention to capture them before the Germans could blow them up and to hold them until the British tanks would arrive. Market Garden was one of the most important battles in WWII. This airborne operation was even larger than the airborne landings in Normandy on D-Day. The battle featured in many movies such as "A Bridge Too Far" and "Band of Brothers".

There would be territs for all important Dutch cities in which bridges were located. Eindhoven, Son, St. Oedenrode, Grave, Veghel, Nijmegen and Arnhem. In addition there would be territs for the main Allied units in the area: XXX Br. Guards Armour (Horrocks), 101st Airborne (Taylor), 82nd Airborne (Gavin), Br. 1st Airborne Divisions (Urquhart), Polish 1st Parachute Brigade (Sosabowski) and the main German units in the area: 1st Fallschirmjager Armee (Student), 85th Infantry Division (Chill), II SS Panzer Korps (Bittrich) and Field Marshall Walter Model HQ. Other units and cities can be added to arrive at a suitable number of territs.

The game objective would be to hold all bridges and thus control "Hells Highway".

Hiya aad! This would make a fine war map. I recall someone started this project a couple years back. I'll see if I can find the thread. It may give ya your start.

EDIT: I haven't found it yet but here is an abandoned Festung 1940 thread that is a fine work. Could be the way you want to structure yours. (Would even be a fine partially finished project to take over)
