Yes, it does look great.
Yes, it is copyrighted. I have just emailed the creator asking for permission to use it. I also invited him/her to join the site, play games, and go through the mapmaking process him/herself.
If we receive permission for use, and the creator doesn't want to go through the mapmaking process, does anybody else?

I have received express written permission to use the image as-is. I have requested permission to modify the image (make borders darker, strengthen territory names etc) and have requested a PSD of the image as opposed to a JPG. I'll let you know.
