World Cities Contest: London

note: this is a small for supersize

total territories: 107

so pretty much the subway is the main gimmick in this map, the adjacent stations can attack each other (as in the territories that contain the stations, they are not separate territories like in transsib), of course when they branch out the opposite ones are not adjacent, so e11 connects to e13 and e5, but e13 does not connect to e5. if you have been on subways with branching paths it should be easy to understand.

i hope this gets at least a bit of attention (i.e more than 2 people) unlike for my vietnam map which is here (10 versions and 14 pages and still in the drafting room)

how will you fit all the numbers in ?

Central looks crammed along with some other places.

Overall Looks pretty nice

BTW nice use of the postal code map... I looked at that one also.

Further comments:

West at 3 is way low? 11 spots for 3 men

Same for Northwest? Among other issues

True but we also need to understand that if something cannot work out graphically then game play means nothing. Just the numbers is more what I was getting at. Fitting those in. :) GL!

All of the bonus areas are really big... I'm a bit worried that they would be too hard to hold. There's no easy bonuses to pick in the start of the game. You could either merge some territories together or split some bonus areas to smaller pieces.

When I thought of this map I envisioned it like NYC.... With the split up bonuses using different shades of the same color.

Doesn't really matter at this point, it's up to the graphics artist to make his work colourblind proof...

I guess you are right.. I just assumed he would be the artist and would want to start thinking about things like that before he got married to any colors etc.

I don't think the contest works like that... I mean, the gameplay designer doesn't get to choose who does the graphics for his map. The "winning" gameplays go to the 2nd round, where each graphics artist gets to pick which gameplay he makes graphics for.

cool, that means there can be a potentially good map here

yeah if everything can fit then a good map can be made from this. I hope you will try the graphics part also.

Heh, I will most likely just pick the simplest map to do graphics for... got so little time for contests right now ;)
