I'm really just throwing this out there.

I've played on quite a few maps with rivers/mountains as impassable borders except at certain crossings, and this always kind of irritated me. You can cross rivers, it's just hard and dangerous to do so. So, would it be possible to make a map that makes rivers reduce your offense somehow? Lower the number of dice you're allowed to roll, give defense an extra die, something.
If this is impossible or just a stupid idea, let me know. I'm not the most experienced CC'er, obviously, and I'm really just seeing if this is a viable concept.

No, it's not currently possible.
Also, I might suggest that you shouldn't have so high expectations of realism from a computer version of a board game...

Well, I like the idea. Whether it's crossing rivers or taking a stronghold, the concept of giving the defender an extra die is very interesting I think.
I think you should definitely post it here:
XML Suggestions, and you should hurry too, or else I'll do it!

I'll certainly post it there if there's more positive feedback. And I know Risk isn't really about realism, but I think it could be a fun part of strategy as well. Instead of an invincible area, it's a more defendable area that you still have to watch.

Too late, it has been suggested ages ago.

Consequently, with the current XML features, you can use killer neutrals for the various impassables.
