Hi, Is this the area would I would post an idea for a map? I have been reading the thread for Trafalgar and reading and reading. Wondered if a smaller battle might be a better idea, with the same general lay out planned in Trafalgar. I live in Ohio and in 1813 there was a fight between US and British ships in Put in Bay, or lake Erie. 16 ships participated and it is well documented. Also, ship building to prepare for battle could be used in development of the map. There are maps of the fight on line and information is plentiful. Might this be an idea, I would be willing to work through the process but would need guidance.
This would be a small map, a total of 17 ships where in the battle. There is well documented history to the type and size of these ships.
Thanks
bob

Do you have a gameplay plan in mind?

my first suggestion for a map, so hang with me. First thought was Trafalgar but that appears to have been a project that did not come to completion.
. drop would then force you to control a ship.
. get more troops for each ship you control
. get more troops once you control a fleet
. you can re enforce to gain control of a ship, or to bomb another ship (if you have control of a ship)
. ships can bomb 1-3 other ships
. ships are weighted for size and strength- some ships had more cannons, so if you control these you would receive more troops
. can re-enforce from one ship to another if you have troops, control of that ship.
not sure of all specifics, it would be cool for us navy. sailing freaks to have some naval type battles. Perhaps start with a smaller map, then use ideas to develop Trafalgar and larger battles.

sounds interesting. try do any draw.
about difference between ships - the stronges ones could bombard 3 ships ahead, middle 2 ships ahead, small 1 ahead?
how can you assault enemy´s ship from your ship?

Another thought, United States and Britain had troops on land, these could expand the map some to make it a lager map.
As far as assaulting other ships, once you have control of a ship, cannons to bombard? like I say, I am new to this, can you have bombardment and attack plans?

Draw something up, I live in Sandusky!!! So this area, being one of the few awesome historical areas nearby has been a favorite of mine, i was at the monument just this past summer.
Overall, i think it could be quite a good map to play and would lend itself to CC well. It's significant enough to warrant a map, imo.

This would be the first map to feature the War of 1812... add in the rare Naval element, and it's a must-have map

Figure out something. You currently only have 33 territories, which is not a lot... That's 4 territories per player in an 8 player game. Even in 6 player games it's only 5 territories. Also you have almost every territory giving an autodeploy. I don't see much strategy there, just stacking and games decided by the dice...
I'm sorry but the way it looks currently I don't think it will make a very interesting map.

I can not see what more could be added here. hm, Helix´s La Revolution de Cuba has only 35 territories (from 8 are commanders - off map).

good point here. some of autodeploy must be kick off.

will think about gameplay.

Yeah... either you need more territories or you need something different for the gameplay.
How about making each ship consist of several territories? Instead of having a territory or two per ship, have a territory per crew member... Or you could have several "cannon" territories that can bombard neighbouring ships, then soldier territories, of which some can board neighboring ships, and then the captain and first mate of each ship... that would increase the territories and make the gameplay more interesting.

I like this idea, it would keep the number if ships accurate but would make an interesting game.

mix of both would be the best...

there is not enough space for more territories, I´m afraid. I think one more for each ship is possible. maybe two more for big ships....
and maybe forgot this map. 15 is very unhappy number

Sure there is. You just need to redesign the layout.
