Computer Keyboard

Postby Victor Sullivan on Thu Sep 09, 2010 8:50 pm

I figured this one would be fun :D Use the different keys as territories. The continents could be like so:
-Function Keys
-Home Block (Y'know with page up, page down, home, etc.)
-Number Pad
-Tab Block (tab, shift, caps lock, left control, left alt/option, splat/windows key)
-Enter Block (backspace, |\ key, enter/return, shift, right control, right alt, right splat)
-Arrow Keys
-Letters/Numbers/Punctuation Keys (Probably like a +1 for every few keys instead of a continent bonus, and make a "no standard territory bonus" rule)
-Escape (auto-deploy 1)
-Space (auto-deploy 2)

Anyways, let me know if you like the idea :) I'll try to get a draft up if you do like it.

Think this is worth bringing back? Or does "vacation" mean he's gonna finish it later?

Why would anyone want to play this map? I think its time we started asking ourselves "Should this be a map?" Rather than "Could this be a map?"

I agree, in all honesty I would never play this... ever.

If other people dig this that's cool. I'm just one dude, but this is not my bag.

I love the idea, keep working on it. And yes, this SHOULD be a map.

Depending on how it was done, I'd totally play this map. I'd definitely support bringing this back to life.

I have seen many incarnations of the keyboard map, and all of them eventually fell prey to one of two problems: contrived gameplay to "use" the keyboard best, or graphics of extreme graininess, since most people ripped off a generic keyboard image from the internet. The problem isn't so much whether it is possible to make the map, the problem is whether it is possible to make the map interesting. Call it the Crossword Principle.

Ah, yes. Crossword... I've pretty much dropped this idea. Too many people are not fond of the idea and I think I'd like to pursue other map ideas.

This should only be made into a map if all other map ideas have been exhausted or if one mapmaker was bored.
