Pittsburgh is an interesting area, famous for its neighborhoods and its bridges. Some friends and I who play on CC think a Pittsburgh map would be fun.

here are some map resources we could use to build a Pittsburgh map:

Pittsburgh's neighborhoods: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... ds.svg.png

Pittsburgh's Bridges:

Pittsburgh's city council districts:

Can someone help us put this together?

I think a CC map of Pittsburgh would be pretty cool and hope someone could put one together.

There's a new idea about *insert-random-american-city-here* map about every few weeks.

What another american city map needs to succeed is an unique idea, interesting gameplay concept and good thematic cosistency.

The bridges look pretty cool. That's it's best bet.

I really like that neighborhoods of Pittsburgh map... it's a pretty unique way of dividing up the city.

As Natty said, every two weeks or so someone posts a "make an American city map" but I think this one has more potential than the others.

If you guys need some graphics help, I'd be glad to lend a hand. Have any of you guys used photoshop/gimp/paint.net before?

Yeah, I understand that everyone wants a map of their own city, but I think that Pittsburgh, with the 3 rivers, and all the bridges, AND the neighborhoods, has a lot of unique things going on.

I like the idea of starting with that colorful neighborhoods map, then overlaying bridges and using the city council areas as continents.

Some of us have some experience with photoshop, etc. So, what do we need to do to create a map? Just draw division lines, add bridges, add circles for troop numbers, etc?

Ok folks, here's the thing -

I'd really like to make an awesome Pittsburgh Map, and I think I have some great basics and a great idea. But, I have no idea how to draw anything on a computer. I'm not a graphic artist, I don't know even what program to use, let alone how to make it look good. I need some help. I know I posted the original idea a long time ago, but I believe I now have some GREAT template maps to work from.

Here are two template maps I think should be used for Pittsburgh:
1) this map shows neighborhoods (territories) and city council disctricts (to be used as "countries" for bonus):
http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/pw/ass ... ty_map.gif

2) this map shows major highways/bridges tunnels, to be used like the railways in the vancouver map:
http://www.aatravelguide.com/images/pitt_map.gif
-zoom in close, just look at the roads on the yellowed area, which is the "city."

Anyone willing to help me put this together?

Thank you!
I'd like to use these two maps, and the model of the Vancouver map to put something awesome together. Would anyone be willing to work with me/help me out with this?

Actually, I have an even better idea, using the basics I described above and adding in a couple other elements, to make the map even more awesome.

Basically, the idea is in addition to the territories within districts and the highways laid overtop, there would also be 9 city council seats and then 1 mayor seat. Once you own all the territories/neighborhoods in a district, you could attack a city council seat (which would be loaded with a bunch of dummy troops). and once you conquer a city council seat, you could attack the mayor seat. The goal of the map would be to hold the mayor seat for 2 consecutive years/rounds.
