Zombie invasion

This is my first ruff draft for my zombie map the territories are a bit to big but this is just the first draft so the cinks will be worked out. The four big territories are the knife the fire the stone and the shotgun. I didn't get a chance to name the territories so that will come later on. I appreciate any feed back on this that yall can give.
One other thing, I know there is already a zombie map in progress but I hope this will be different enough to pass. Thanks all.

You know "Top Dog" already has the "zombie land" map idea right? seems pretty close to the same idea here, map actually looks pretty similar... check it out...

Found the Zombie Land thread. Looks pretty different to me, even if the theme is similar.

My thoughts on your map:
* Not very many territories. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, it may work better to cut the territory sizes in half and double the number of territories.
* What are the attack routes? Can you attack through the barricade things? Why are some of the territories bigger than others (the ones on the side vs. the ones in the middle)? Which ones are zombies and which ones are humans?

The thinking on the big territories was that they could be attacked by several places. Barricades are impassible. The attack routes will be updated when the next draft comes out as well as the legend.

lol it's actually kinda funny... My thread was originally named "Zombie Invasion" and just a few days ago I renamed it "zombieland". I thought that I was clicking on my thread than I see see the pic and I'm like... that's not mine... lol
Honestly, this map is gonna need more than the 15 or so terr. I see... a lot more...
good luck though...
Map making isn't all that hard if you have the time... which is why my project is moving a bit slow... I don't have the time to make a draft every week... but I hope the best for your map... and even better for mine ;-)

15 or 28 it's still gonna need more... not saying that you weren't planning on adding more in further versions but... a 28 terr. map isn't gonna pass, that's all I'm saying

Doodle only has 18 and it pasted, I might add more later on but for now that's what it's gonna be.

Definitely needs to be increased in size by regions. At the moment it seems that the player who first controls one or more of the 4 weapon regions will instantly dominate. Admittedly, it could be fun to have a "Humans versus zombies" theme (perhaps similar to the layout of Arms Race). Try adding some more regions in, which may mean starting over, and we'll see how it looks.

On the map ask me2 it would be kind of cool if the Humans and zombies had to protect something to stay alive. And also the Bonuses might be a little too easy to get because you would start out with a Zombie or Human then all you would need is that one place to get an extra 2 troops, I think it would be better if for example the shotgun you would have to get the Ammo too and for the Fire you would have to get a stick and the fire and so on.

The four weapons will start as neutral.

Your map doesn't make any sense to me. Which territories attack which? Are those H-whatever and Z-whatever squares territories? If so, where do the army numbers fit in? What do barricades do?

This map is going to need a lot of work. First of all: Start by creating a story for your map. Where/when does it happen, who is fighting who and why. "Zombies vs humans" in an abstract square full of smaller abstract squares seems really vague and ambiguous, it doesn't cut it.

Come up with a good background story, something like "half the population of earth was turned into zombies and now the remaining humans have to fight them for survival". Something like that, but you can come up with your own story. Use your imagination. Then figure out how to implement that story into your map.

Decide when and where the map is happening. The scale of the map: Is this happening in a certain city, or a whole country? A real or imaginary one? When? Near future, far future,
present, past?

Then you also need to consider gameplay dynamics. How do the players start the game? Will everyone start with one or a few territories with the rest of the map neutral, or will the map start with a random drop? Think about winning objectives, neutrals, killer neutrals, bonuses... when you design the layout of your map, think about how a typical game would play out. Use the restrictions and possibilities of the game engine to your advantage, be creative.

When you have these things figured out, you will have the elements you need to start building a working map. I'm sorry, but just coming up with some random squares, throwing the words "zombies" and some weapons in there doesn't quite cut it.

Mapmaking is hard work, many people come here with ideas they think are good, but then when they notice how much work it would take to make their ideas work they quit in about a week, a month a best.

Note that I'm not saying these things to discourage or flame you, I'm just trying to give some advice. The idea of a zombie map sounds fun, but you need to do a lot more work before you have something that can work as a CC map.

First I would like to say thank you for all the advice, and that the barricades are just normal territories. The idea was that this is the last human town on earth and that zombies had taken over the world but I haven't really said that yet. I'm still trying to work out what the rest of the territories will be called. Each weapon will be dropped a 5 neutral. All the other territories will be randomly assigned for the players. Hope that cleared up some of it.

Ok, well now we have something. How about drawing a map of a town or city then, with buildings, roads, maybe some rivers with bridges... Then you could make some of the buildings be invaded by zombies. Perhaps each player starts with one building, and those are the last human strongholds, and all the rest of the buildings are taken over by zombies.

If you take this approach, you could do a lot graphically with the map. Worn down roads, houses in ruins, broken cars etc. Dead bodies... A real apocalyptic scenario.

For a bonus structure, you could have each building give a bonus. You could make roads territories with decay (losing troops each turn) because the streets are not safe, due to zombies. And then you would have to go through the roads to take over the buildings from the zombies.

One more thing, when you start designing the infrastructure of the town, try not to make it too square and grid-like (like your current map). Try to make it more resembling a real town. Look at some city maps at google. Most cities of the world are not built to a square grid, they have variation...

It could also be fun to base the map on a real city. Which one, is your choice...

Well, this should give you some thoughts to chew on. Good luck with the map. ;)

Because your current map doesn't show much graphical ability.
Your idea is also barely any different from mine, especially if you follow Natty Dread's idea's...
If you can show your idea better expressed in your map, with half way decent graphics, I'd almost be tempted to ask if you wanna collab a map... But as of right now, it's just some... "easy" competition.
But maybe the map team like maps designed in "paint"
