[Moved]

It would appear that development of this map has stalled. If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the Foundry Moderators will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system, after an update has been made. ;-)

For the record... I've had a hellishly busy schedule lately, but I will look into this map and see what I can do with the graphics. Expect to see a post in a day or two.

Ok, this is by no means ready yet, I'm still working on the background (so I'm using the old space background here as a placeholder) and legend and some other stuff... but paulk wanted me to post this anyway, to get the thread moving again, so here's what I have so far:

Now before I continue I'd like some feedback... how do you feel about the map legibility now? Is this an improvement to previous versions?

I tried various backgrounds but found that a simple, dark background works best here IMO...

I'm only doing graphics here, this isn't my map. As for additional projects my schedule is quite full now, sorry.

Some feedback would be nice... is this graphical style good? Legible?

I tried to stay faithful to the original art as much as possible...

If people like this visual style I can get crackin' on the small image. If not I'll come up with something else...

I have been following this from the start and have loved the concept. I do have a few minor issue with the font. I think it is a little hard to read the cube letter/number combos. And the test on the right is jarringly bright, you might try a some pastels of various colors to get one that allows the cube to be the focal point as far as graphics are concerned.

I am looking forward to playing this one.

Hmm. I could try decreasing the opacity of the legend font...

Take it down to match the letter-digit combinations on the balls in the grid. Those are fine as is, so the legend should look better that way.

That looks better to me, but I don't think it needs any glow around it either. It just looks foggy.

i'm late to the party, but i think this is a really exciting map. coming at it with fresh eyes, i think it's very understandable and brings a whole new map concept to cc. the region names gives me a classic shapes flashback and that's my only criticism ;-)

Well in the XML the region names would be named as:

Layer 1 - A1
Layer 2 - B3
Layer 3 - C4

I don't know just what you graphic artists would call it, but if I look closely, there is an area around the text in the legend which is not quite as black as the background. The ball labels have no such nimbus.

Ah, you mean the outline. I'll see what I can do...

Btw how do you feel about the glow on the wires of the central cube? I'm not totally sure about it myself...

I like it as it is now. It's a cube. Why would it need more anything more than this? If the gameplay of a cube was sufficient to merit a stamp, then the graphics as is are fine. As Johnny Carson used to say, "If you buy the premise, you buy the bit."
