I see a couple of things:

1. that Ingsoc graphic looks a lot like the one used in the John Hurt movie. Copyright issues, perhaps? Besides, where are the images for Neo-Bolshevism and Obliteration of Self? :D
2. you're put the ministries in some pretty random places, plus calling western australia "land of BB" is pretty weird. What about having an Airstrip One inset (since that's where all the action of the book takes place), with all four Ministries, each with some sort of different bonus?
3. I also think you have too many connections between the three large nations. It would be an interesting tweak if you had to go through the disputed zone to get from, say, oceania to eurasia. Obviously the rocket bombs (a nice touch, btw, tho they'll have to be placed more carefully as the map progresses) would still be able to bombard far-off lands.

Removed in next version. I'll look for something else to put there

Good idea. I'll get on it when I'm on my computer

I tried this, but people thought that it caused too many bottlenecks. I will think about another way of doing it

It should be noted that the copyright holders of the book have served notice in the past to others trying to use elements of the book, most notably Apple Computers when they made a very big-brotherly TV ad in the 80s. They again filed a suit against CBS for using the name "Big Brother" for a TV show, but settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. I am afraid that to make as it is this map somebody will have to secure the rights from the Estate of George Orwell or else it won't be able to go live.

We've had at least three maps (that I know of) pulled from the site because of copyright issues when the holders of the copyright complained, so this is serious business.

@el presidente, there's several online copies of it. here. I've got an RTF file of it as well, if you would prefer that.

@oaktown, I've contacted the company that represents his estate in copyright issues. In the past they have been happy to allow things like this to go ahead if they have been asked about it before hand, so I am hopeful that they wont have any problems with it.

This looks pretty awesome, can't wait to play on it.
Personally, I liked the dark colors of version 3, they looked more ominous, but I like the gameplay elements with the rocket bombs and the government divisions in the current version.
Is there any way you could darken it a little, or were there complaints before?

[Moved]

It would appear that development of this map has stalled. If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the CAs will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system, after an update has been made. ;-)

i understand that the idea is dead, but i think it's cool. if anyone takes it on, though, it needs to have newspeak in it.

is should be "west" and "unwest." "north" and "unnorth."

and when you lose it should say "player has been eliminated. doubleplusungood."
