I suggest a similar map but with some modifications
- each region has just one Port and 2 docks
- each region is connect to the adjacent regions by a dock. This creates a "circle" of regions around the outside of a map
- a Port can attack any other Port but not Docks. This is a departure from the original map
- In the center is a Pirate region. It has a regular Port plus a special Cove that can one way attack any Dock.
- in between the Pirate Port and the Cove is the Treasure Mountain which auto-deploys 2 at the start of a turn. It does not have a resource bonus
- The regular resource bonus still exists for the other regions
