Canadian Provinces/US States

Anybody think of doing maps based on these concepts?
I'd do it myself but I have no mapmaking skills.

I mean of the actual provinces and states.

Like a map of Ontario, or Washington DC.
Not just of the actual nation cut into provinces.

they have been tried and failed many times... i think the biggest problem is that they dont gain enough support, I.E. If i went out and attempted to make a Nebraska map, who would support me? the 3 Nebraskans who have ever looked at the forum?

Though i would LOVE to see a individual map made for every state in the US, I think it would be an awesome extension of maps

There are some really beautiful places in Canada that would make great maps.

agreed. perhaps we should look at map makes of landscapes within both countries. for example, rocky mountains map would be awesome. get a map concept similar to battle for iraq/railway usa and incorporate in towards the cycling route, throughout canada, thats going to be used in 2010vancouver olympics. just some thoughts :)

Hell we could use the Trans Canada Trail/Highway.
Or Niagara Falls?

Niagara Falls would be cool. One way attacks over the falls or something.

Emphasis on the point that Niagara Falls is both in the USA and Canada. Like borders and such.

Problem is, once we start that sort of thing, where is the line drawn? Once we start large amounts of maps of states, (many of which are, lets face it, squares) it would lead on to maps of british counties and french provinces and on and on. It would end with a bunch of maps which barely anyone is interested in. Its the inherently unique thing.

The odd one though (like the Texas map) can be pulled off pretty well if it is pulled of with a theme other than being a map of a piece of land so if you have something particular in mind it's always worth a shot. :)

That could be a cool battle for the falls map. Also there are some Canadian Provinces that would make great maps like the way they are laid out. Not saying anything bad about the American states but most are just basic shapes like squares and rectangles. Texas might be cool. But like

Newfoundland and Labrador

Northwest Territories and Nunavut (Even the islands would be cool)

I'm reviving this years old thread because I just got back to CC and thought we had some great discussion on the go.
I'm still in favour of this idea!

Newfoundland would be cool... you should check out the Golfe du St-Laurent contest as well.
