Nuclear Power Plant

Postby Victor Sullivan on Sat Aug 21, 2010 8:49 pm

Well I made this rough draft awhile ago, but got discouraged by looking at some of the great maps out there :) Well, I finally summed up the courage to post my map idea. Please be brutally honest:

My concerns include there not being enough territories, the graphics not being up to par, and not sure if the one-way attacks work. Let me know what you think.

Interesting. A nuclear power plant could actually make a hell of a map, but this representation is a bit too reductionist IMO. The subject has potential for much more...

Consider this: perhaps a post-apocalyptic scenario, where the world is in chaos & anarchy. We have a sovereign town or city which operates a nuclear power plant. In a world of anarchy such a facility would need to be heavily guarded, with watchtowers, snipers on duty, mine fields and whatnot... You could divide the map in two parts basically: the attackers and defenders. The attackers objective would be to capture the nuclear reactors (and maybe blow up the plant) while the defenders objective would be to ward off the attackers...

Oooo, I like it! I'll see what I can do. It might take a while to get a draft up, though just FYI.

Also, see if you can find blueprints of the chernobyl somewhere. They'd be cool to base a map on ;)

Ha!!! I'm not the only old fart who had to decipher all the new-fangled lingo of texting and BBS's. Although I do think it's funny that you used btw, by the way.

IMO = In My Opinion

And for others you may not know:
imho = In My Humble Opinion
nm = nevermind
np = no problem

And the CC stuff you probably already know:
gg = good game
gl = good luck
hf = have fun (this took me a while, call me slow)

Since you're at 'btw' status, you probably already know wtf, lol, and all that. I just wanted to show off all my hard-earned minutes... nay days of research to decode this secret language of the interwebs. :ugeek:

Gosh, I've tried coming up with ideas for this, but I could really use some help with the specifics. I'm mostly having difficulty for what to put outside the power plant area. So natty's or anyone's input would be fantastic.

Unfortunately, I could not find Chernobyl blueprints, but I did find a map of Europe showing the radiation effects. When I experimented with it, it just ended up being a sort of variant of the USApocalypse radiation effects, plus there were only 16 cities. I decided it wasn't worth posting, especially since I like natty's first idea better if I can make it work.

Hehe, I wonder if you can get into some kind of watchlist by googling nuclear plant blueprints... ;)

Have you ever heard of a game called Fallout, Sully? I just mention it because the theme of 50's dysutopia could fit nicely with this idea.

Along those lines, you could always have mutant animals running amok outside. Maybe ApeZilla(s) or Frackrabbits or something.

I've heard of Fallout, but I'm afraid that's the extent of my knowledge.
