Office Building War

Postby Mr_jacob7 on Wed Mar 24, 2010 4:07 pm

Okay, picture this:

some generic office building; a top-down floorplan.

cubicles (different divisions worth different points)
break room
office room (split up territories)
guest lobby (?)
copy/mail room
maybe some sort of supervisors' office...

i have no map-building skills, whatsoever (only finished 3 games, so far, as a matter of fact), but i do think this would be a cool idea.

what do you guys think?

PS:the idea wasn't based off of this, but it comes to mind:

Seems utterly uninspired. I have no interest in randomly attacking an office cubicle. You need some spice in the idea to make it worth pursuing. Instead of simply an office workplace, perhaps office warfare with silly cliques fighting over workplace necessities. "Grab the copy paper, our machine is running out! No, we need to brew some more coffee!" etc. etc.

As TaCktiX pointed out already, the concept of attacking bathrooms and meeting rooms is pretty dull. Take a look at the Supermax:Prison Riot! map; it uses the same aerial viewpoint that you are suggesting, but it is a lot more interesting and fun to fight off rival gangs through the guards or to trap someone in the gas chamber.
And if you're really stuck for inspiration you could check out the Recycling Bin found in the Map Ideas section of this forum.

In addition, you'll want to find an artist to manage the graphics aspect or to use a layered programme yourself. If you don't want to buy Photoshop then try downloading its free equivalent - GIMP.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Seriously, keep at this or another map. Every map maker ultimately started with something like this.

Hes being sarcastic...

I like the idea. Just add more too it, a key, and as Natty always says... "Why would you want to conquer" an office building?
