CCPL Matchday 9
Red Stick Cajuns (lsu) v TRC (panc)
Down Under United(iliad) v Redcar Royals (cena)
TWAT(lozz) v Thunder Hawks(amino)
Norfolk and Chance(ice) v Emo United(sam)

Game 1:
Red Stick Cajuns (lsu) v TRC (panc)

This weekend’s first game sees high flying RSC take on TR Clowns who have also been in decent form of late which has seen them rise up the table to 4th. LSU will be hoping his team continue their impressive form which has led to them having a 2 point lead at the top. The last time these sides met it resulted in an exciting 2-2, lets hope for more of the same today.

Teams:

Red Stick Cajuns (lsu)
1. Buffon, 30, World Class
2. Ashley Cole 27, Excellent
3. Hibbert 29, Good
4. Quaresma, 24, World Class
5. Alonso, 26, Excellent
6. C. Ronaldo 23, Footballing God
7. D. Bent, 24, Excellent
8. Lucas 21, Very Good
9. Kranjcar 23, Good
10. Zarate, 21, Very Good

TRC (panc)
1. Freidel, 36, Excellent
2. Terry, 27, World Class
3. Carragher 30, Excellent
4. Barnes 19, Excellent
5. Flamini 24, Excellent
6. Deco, 31 World Class
7. Van Nistilrooy, 32, World class
8. Hutton 23, Excellent
9. Hargreaves, 27, Excellent
10. Shevchenko, 31, Excellent

Match Report:
The game started off in unexpected fashion as TRC seemed to be getting the better of the opening exchanges. On 21 minutes they found themselves with an opening. Deco made a good run through the middle of the park before picking out Van Nistilrooy on the edge of the box. The big Dutchman spun his marker before knocking the ball through for Barnes who simply slid the ball past Buffon. Red Stick Cajuns 0-1 Transvestite Rodeo Clowns.

TR Clowns were looking very impressive and didn’t just sit back and try to defend their lead and got another chance 10 minutes later for their efforts. Flamini played a high ball up into the box, where van Nistilrooy headed the ball down for Deco. Deco caught it on the half volley and it flew through the air, Buffon got a touch and that took it by the post.

Red Stick finally started to create a few openings towards the end of the first half, the best of which came on 43 minutes. Ronaldo was brought down by Carragher on the left wing and won a frere kick. Quaresma took it and swung it into the box, Ronaldo won the header but could only flick it on. Bent came in at the back post and headed from just 4 yards out only for it to sail over the bar.

The second half was more even with both sides playing well. The first chance of the second half fell Red Stick’s way. Quaresma burst down the wing before sending the ball whizzing in towards the front post. Bent ran in and got a faint touch to it, it was enough to guide the ball on target, and past Freidel. Red Stick Cajuns 1-1 Transvestite Rodeo Clowns.

RSC seemed to take confidence from the goal and started to apply a little pressure to the TRC defence. They managed to create a good number of half chances and held up well in defence. On 76 minutes however a chance fell the other way as TRC tried to get back in front. A long ball from Carragher was missed by the RSC defence and Deco ran onto it. He cut inside skipping past Cole before shooting, his shot was headed for the top corner but a brilliant save from Buffon seen it go out for only a corner.

The final moments of the game were enthralling as both sides moved from end to end in search of a winner, in the second minute of injury time the chance to do just that fell to TR Clowns. Deco was again central to the move as he played a one-two with Barnes before sliding Van Nistilrooy through on goal. He was one on one with Buffon to decide the match. Buffon stayed tall, but van Nistilrooy shot past him, the ball hit of the inside of the post and ran across the goal line. Hibbert was first there to clear it off the line.

Red Stick Cajuns 1-1 Transvestite Rodeo Clowns.
Bent 51-----------------Barnes 21
