Oh yeah well the magic number is 4.

Because 1 = 3 and 3 = 5 and 5 = 4

Any way you go you get 4.

Wanna start with 7? Okay 7 = 5 and 5 = 4.

8 you say? 8 = 5, 5 = 4.

2? 2 = 3, 3 = 5, 5 = 4 :D

6 = 3, 3 = 5, 5 = 4

5 = 4

9 = 4

4 of course = 4

4 wins!

4 is the magic number :D

Okay, I understand why 1 = 3 and why 3 = 5, but 5 ≠ 4! Also, 5 ≠ 4

If 7 = 5, 5 ≠ 4, 5 = 1 or 5 = 3, but 5 ≠ 4! or 4 !

8 I say? If 8 = 5 then 5 = 9 or 5 = 0, but 5 ≠ 4 at all.

2?2 = 3 correct and true, but if 2?2 = 3 then 3 = 5 and 1 = 4 but 5 = 4 on an exam would score 2?2

6 = 3, 3 = 5, 5 = 4 if and only if all = all, and if all = all then reductio is absurdum!

5 ≠ 4, 9 ≠ 4, but...

4 of course = 4 is not of course 5 ≠ 4! or 4 !

Oh - I thought it was gonna be something far more interesting than the clock...

OK then - here's a riddle for you...

My birthday is in the week before Christmas Day.

My Birthday is the day after Christmas Day.

Christmas Day is the day after New Years Eve.

When is my birthday?

If the letters of the alphabet are an arithmetic sequence and...

e = 2.71828
...and...
pi = 3.14159

...then...

a = ?

I haven't got a decent enough calculator to work that one out I'm afraid.

Although - I suspect the answer is either 1 or 0.
